The expansion joints on Staples Corner Flyover (A406 North Circular) are in urgent need of replacement. The joints are vital to allow the flyover to cope with temperature change. They are in a poor condition and it is essential to replace them to avoid long-term disruption to motorists.
Works to replace them will take place between Monday 28 August and Wednesday 20 September 2017. During this time, there is a period where the A406 will be closed to through traffic at Staples Corner: Details are shown below.

Bus impacts
During the overnight works 28 – 31 August and 18 – 20 September there are no changes to bus services.
Buses passing through the area of Staples Corner junction are delayed by full weekend closures.
- 22:00 Friday 1 to 05:00 Monday 4 September 2017
- 22:00 Friday 8 to 05:00 Monday 11 September 2017
- 00:01 to 23:59 Sunday 17 September 2017
Affected routes include: 32, 112, 142, 182, 232, 266, and N16.
Route 32 will be on diversion via the A5 during the three weekend full closures and will not serve Staples Corner:
Route 142 will terminate at West Hendon during the three weekend full closures. There will be a free shuttle service (route 544) running between West Hendon and Brent Cross Shopping Centre. This service will run every 20 minutes on Saturdays and every 30 minutes on Sundays.
You will still be able to travel on other routes to and from Brent Cross Shopping Centre however services may be less frequent and some may terminate early. Please catch the first bus, the driver will notify you of any changes to the route or if you need to change to complete your journey. Local bus stop signage will also be in place.
