London Travel Changes

    Here is our weekly travel update to help you get around London this weekend. Please check if any of the following affects you.

    🚇 Tube 🚇


    Metropolitan line
    On Sunday 9 December, before 0930 and after 2100, no service between Wembley Park and Aldgate.

    Please use Jubilee line services between Wembley Park and Baker Street or Chiltern Railways services between Marylebone and Harrow-on-the-Hill.

    🚊 Overground🚊


    On Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 December, no service between Hackney Downs and Enfield Town / Cheshunt (via Seven Sisters).

    Chingford trains call additionally at Cambridge Heath and London Fields. Replacement buses operate.

    Replacement buses operate:

    • Service L1 Seven Sisters – Bruce Grove – White Hart Lane – Silver Street – Edmonton Green – Bush Hill Park – Enfield Town
    • Service L2 Seven Sisters – Bruce Grove – White Hart Lane – Silver Street – Edmonton Green – Bush Hill Park – Southbury – Turkey Street – Theobalds Grove – CheshuntUse London Underground connections between Liverpool Street and Seven Sisters.

    On Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 December, an amended timetable will run between Gospel Oak and Barking, with trains every 15 to 30 minutes.

    The first Saturday train from Barking at 0634, the first Sunday train from Barking will be at 0908, the last train from Gospel Oak will be at 2250. Supplementary buses will run every 30 minutes between Gospel Oak and Seven Sisters (for South Tottenham) and between Walthamstow Central and Barking. Please use the Victoria line to connect between the two bus services.

    On Sunday 23 December, there will be no service between Paddington and Heathrow Terminal 4 and Liverpool Street to Shenfield.

     

     🚌Buses🚌


    Waterloo – Until 17:00 on Sunday 9 December, Baylis Road is closed southbound at the junction of Waterloo Road. This is due to electrical connection works.

    Hyde Park – Until 22:00 on Sunday 6 January 2019, large crowds are expected at Hyde Park Corner, Marble Arch and Park Lane areas. This is due to the annual Winter Wonderland event that is taking place at Hyde Park from 10:00 until 22:00 each day, except for Christmas Day. South Carriage Drive will be closed whenever crowds get too large.

    Old Street – From Monday 3 December until early 2019, one lane will be suspended on the south east section of Old Street roundabout for utility investigations. This is to prepare for the Old Street roundabout scheme. We are planning advance highway works for the scheme from February 2019 and main works from April 2019.

    Wembley Stadium – From 17:00 until 23:59 on Wednesday 5 December, large crowds are expected in the Wembley area. This is due to a football match between Tottenham and Southampton, kicking off at 20:00. Traffic levels are expected to increase in the area before and after the game. Roads likely to be affected are the A406, A1, A40, Harrow Road, Wembley High Road and roads around the stadium.

    Baker Street –  From 19:00 on Friday 30 November until 15:00 on Sunday 2 December, Baker Street will be closed to traffic from Marylebone Road to Dorset Street. Baker Street will also be closed to traffic from 19:00 until 06:00 the following morning on Tuesday 4, Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 December. On Tuesday evening, Baker Street will be closed to traffic from Blandford Street to Fitzhardinge Street. On Wednesday and Thursday evening, Baker Street and Portman Square will be closed to traffic between George Street and Wigmore Street. This is due to carriageway resurfacing works. On Monday 7 January to Sunday 3 February 2019: Bus stops M on Portman Street and BA and BZ on Orchard Street will be temporarily closed.
