Agencies have announced service changes due to fire, winds, and debris. Agencies are working to keep services running and help people evacuate.
Service Changes by Agency:
LA Metro:
Metro is running tonight and will be running Thursday. However, there are impacts to some bus and rail lines due to the high winds and wildfires in our region. Metro Board Chair Janice Hahn has also authorized suspending fares through Thursday, Jan. 9, with regional power issues impacting TAP machines. Here are the current service alerts:
A LINE: Bus shuttles replace trains in both directions between Southwest Museum and Fillmore stations due to wind damage to overhead wires. This work will continue into Thursday and possibly longer. ALLOW EXTRA TIME IF RIDING TO/FROM SAN GABRIEL VALLEY.Fires are also impacting these bus lines:
LINE 2: Detours to Santa Monica Boulevard between Beverly Drive and La Brea due to wildfire in Hollywood Hills.
LINE 4: Detours in Santa Monica due to wildfires. Eastbound: from layover at 6th & Arizona, buses are running on Arizona, 4th, Santa Monica and to regular route. Westbound: buses are running on Santa Monica to 6th and layover.
LINE 33: Detours in Santa Monica due to wildfires. Eastbound: buses are running from layover to Wilshire, Lincoln, Ocean Park & Main to regular route. Westbound: buses are running on Main, Ocean Park, Lincoln, Santa Monica and to 5th to layover.
LINE 134: Canceled due to the fire in the Palisades area.
LINES 180 and 217: Buses detouring between Los Feliz Blvd/San Fernando and Vermont/Prospect due to downed power lines. Buses using Sunset, Alvarado, Glendale, Rowena, Hyperion, Glendale and San Fernando. ALSO LINE 217: Westbound buses detour to Vine, Santa Monica and back to Fairfax and regular route. Eastbound buses detour to Santa Monica Boulevard, Vine and back to Hollywood Boulevard and regular route.
LINE 210: Northbound buses detour from Vine to Santa Monica Blvd, Cahuenga, Lexington, Vine and to Santa Monica Blvd. and layover.
LINE 212 northbound: Buses detouring to Highland between Melrose and La Brea.
LINE 218: No service between Fountain and Studio City due to wildfire in Hollywood Hills. Northbound buses will circle back south via Fairfax, Fountain, Crescent Heights, and Santa Monica to return to Cedars Sinai.
LINE 222: No bus service between Hollywood and Universal/Studio City in both directions due to wildfire in Hollywood Hills.
LINE 224: No service north of Bledsoe due to wildfire in Sylmar area.
LINES 235 and 236: No service north of Rinaldi due to wildfire in Sylmar area.
LINE 261: Buses detour to Long Beach Blvd. between Artesia and Alondra due to downed power lines.
LINES 267, 660 and 662: No service north of Orange Grove Boulevard in the Pasadena and Altadena areas due to wildfires.
LINE 296: Buses detour to 5 freeway between Los Feliz Boulevard and Western Avenue.
LINE 602: Canceled due to the fire in the Palisades area.
LINE 690: No bus service north of Bledsoe due to fire activity
Pasadena Transit:
Pasadena Transit & Dial-A-Ride service is suspended -January 9th, 2025. If conditions permit, service will resume Friday January 10th, 2025.
Big Blue Bus:
- Due to ongoing wildfires in the region, several bus routes are experiencing detours and delays. Additionally, fare collection has been suspended for the remainder of the service day on Wednesday, January 8.Below is a list of current service impacts:
- Route 9: Service suspended until further notice.
- Route 14: Service suspended north of Bringham Ave. and Montana Ave.
- Route 16: Detour on Lincoln Blvd. Bus stops between Marina Freeway and Jefferson Blvd. will be missed.
- Route 43: Detour at 26th St. and Montana Ave. All bus stops north of Montana Ave. will not be served.

LADOT:
LADOT Transit announced that most of its Commuter Express and DASH routes are currently operating with the exception of DASH Sylmar (not operating) and DASH Observatory/Los Feliz (only the Los Feliz portion of the route is operating due to the Observatory closure). PLEASE NOTE, however, that all routes are subject to delays and/or potential reroutes due to the wildfires; and riders should allow extra time.
LADOT Transit is closely monitoring the situation and will notify riders through the ladottransit.com website, emails, X and Facebook of any significant changes.

- Southbound traffic on Pacific Coast Highway was closed at Cross Creek Road. Northbound lanes were closed at McClure Tunnel.
- Westbound 10 Freeway traffic was being diverted at Lincoln Boulevard.
- Topanga Canyon Boulevard was closed in both directions between Pacific Coast Highway and Mulholland Drive.
- In Azusa, San Gabriel Canyon Road was closed north of the city. Only residents were allowed to enter.
- Westbound lanes of the 210 Freeway were closed at Roxford Street. Traffic was being diverted there.
- Eastbound lanes of the 210 Freeway were closed at the 5 Freeway.
- Northbound and eastbound connectors of the 5 Freeway to the eastbound 210 Freeway were closed.
- 5 Freeway northbound truck lanes were closed to the 210 Freeway and State Route 14.
