    What is NYC Congestion Pricing?

Congestion Pricing, which is set to start January 5th 2025, will charge drivers a fee for entering Manhattan’s most congested areas, A.K.A the Congestion relief zone. This includes local streets from 60th and below. Private cars entering the zone during peak hours will be charged $9, and taxis will add a surcharge for every trip into the zone. For a complete breakdown of tolls and exemptions, please check MTA’s website. The projected impact is at least 80,000 fewer vehicles entering the zone EVERY DAY!

Less cars means less congestion, and cleaner air.

If you are commuting to or vising NYC from Connecticut & Lower Hudson Valley there are lots of great transit options:

Metro-North Railroad is the lifeline for travel from Connecticut and the Lower Hudson Valley into NYC. Metro-North provides service throughout New York and Connecticut on its Harlem, Hudson, New Haven and Pascack Valley Lines and takes you directly to Grand Central Station. NJ Transit operates MNR’s Port Jervis Line. Transfer at Secaucus for service to Penn Station-NY or at Hoboken for PATH services.

Many local transit agencies and shuttle provide service to Metro-North Railroad Stations:

Park and Ride Trip Planning is now available in Moovit!

We know that public transit is not always in walking distance. In order to help commuters and visitors access public transit and opt to drive their cars less we have added Park and Ride Data to Moovit.

Which parking lot data did we include? We used the Park and Ride data available from 511NY and have only included parking lots with the following criteria: Free or Meter Parking, No permits required and close to a bus or train station.

How to plan a trip with park and ride? Simply enter where you want to go in the Directions tab in the Moovit App. If a park and ride trip plan is available you will see a section called ” Drive, Park & Ride” below below the “Suggested Routes” section. We will show you 1 Park & Ride trip plan option, but feel free to click on “View more Routes” to see more Park & Ride trip plans. Then simply click on your chosen trip plan and Go!

You can also see the parking lots on the map on Moovit’s Stations tab.
