Metro MTA Weekender

    Welcome to The Weekender

    December 25- December 28

Each weekend, Moovit updates schedules with MTA changes so you always have the most accurate trip directions and don’t waste time walking to a closed station or waiting for a train that isn’t coming.  Plan your trip using Moovit and we’ll guide you there smoothly.

MTA subways, buses and railroad service will operate on a Sunday or holiday schedule on Christmas. While the weather might be frightful during parts of the day, all MTA agencies are monitoring the forecasts, taking steps to prepare for rain, snow or any other conditions Old Man Winter delivers. Crews are also on call to respond to any weather related service impacts.

NYC Transit subway and bus service will be operating on a Sunday schedule on Christmas. Long Island Rail Road trains are on a holiday schedule with Off-Peak fares and Family Fares offered throughout the day. The Railroad’s annual Family Fare Program allows as many as four children ages 5-11 to ride for the advance purchase fare of 75 cents per child each way when accompanied by a fare-paying adult or guardian. Children under 5 ride free on the LIRR. Service returns to a regular weekday schedule on Wednesday, December 26th. Regular fares remain in effect during AM Peak hours.

Metro-North will operate on a special holiday schedule and customers traveling with the family, are urged to purchase an off-peak ten-trip ticket. In addition to the discount, it is transferrable, so everyone can use it.
