MTA New Alerts & Schedule Updates

July 13, 2020

    MTA Subway and Bus Updates:

    • Currently, Normal weekday and weekend subway service. MTA is ramping up to weekday service on most lines.
    • There is no subway service from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. while the MTA disinfects trains and stations. The Staten Island Railway will continue running during this time.
    • The 42 St Shuttle is not running. Use 7 service instead.
    • MTA will be running an enhanced bus service between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. to help get essential workers where they need to go. If bus service is not an option, essential workers can use MTA’s Essential Connector program
    • See options for overnight travel
    • There is restored service on express buses
    • Normal weekday school-closed bus schedules

    2 Train – Weekday and Weeknight Planned Service Changes

    • July 13 – 17, Monday to Friday, 10:45 AM to 3:30 PM
      Flatbush Av-bound 2 service will run express from 241 St to E 180 St because of track maintenance.
    • July 13 – 17, Monday to Friday, 10 PM to 1 AM
      Uptown 2 service will stop at 50 St, 59 St-Columbus Circle, and 66 St because of electrical improvements.

    3 Train – Weeknight Planned Service Changes

    • July 13, Monday, 10 PM to 11:45 PM and July 14 – 17, Tuesday to Friday, 10 PM to 1 AM
      Uptown 3 service will stop at 50 St, 59 St-Columbus Circle, and 66 St because of electrical improvements.
    • July 13 – 14, Monday 11:45 PM to Tue 1 AM
      Overnight 3 service will be suspended because of track maintenance.
      Take M7, M102 buses, and the 2.
      Use nearby M7/M102 stops between 135 St and 148 St.
      Take the 2 between 135 St and Times Sq.
      Transfer between buses and the 2 at 135 St.

    4 Train – Weeknight Planned Service Change

    • July 13 – 17, Monday to Friday, 9:45 PM to 1 AM
      Manhattan-bound 4 service will skip 176 St, Mt Eden Av, 170 St, 167 St, and 161 St-Yankee Stadium because of track maintenance.
    • July 13 – 17, Monday to Friday, 10 PM to 1 AM
      Downtown 4 service will run local from Grand Central-42 St to Brooklyn Bridge because of track maintenance.
    • Ongoing – Downtown 4 service is skipping 138 St-Grand Concourse through Summer 2020.

    5 Train – Weeknight Planned Service Change

    • July 13 – 16, Monday to Thursday, beginning 8 PM
      5 service will end early between E 180 St and Bowling Green because of track maintenance.
      Take the 2 and/or 4.
    • Ongoing – Downtown 5 service is skipping 138 St-Grand Concourse through Summer 2020.

    7 Train – Weeknight Planned Service Change

    • July 13 – 17, Monday to Friday, 10:15 AM to 3 PM
      Hudson Yards-bound 7 service will skip 111 St, 103 St, 90 St, and 82 St because of track replacement.

    F Train – Weeknight Planned Service Change

    • July 13 – 17, Monday to Friday, 9:45 PM to 1 AM
      Coney Island-bound F trains will run via the E from Roosevelt Av to 5 Av/53 St because of electrical improvements.
      To 21 St-Queensbridge, Roosevelt Island, Lexington Av/63 St, and 57 St, take the F to 47-50 Sts and transfer to a Jamaica-bound F.
      From 21 St-Queensbridge and Roosevelt Island, take F to Roosevelt Av and transfer to a Coney Island-bound F.
      From Lexington Av/63 St, take the Q to 34 St-Herald Sq for the F.
      From 57 St, use the nearby 57 St-7 Av N/Q station for downtown service to 34 St-Herald Sq where Coney Island-bound F service is available.

    J Train – Weeknight Planned Service Change

    • July 13 – 17, Monday to Friday, 11:45 PM to 1 AM
      Free shuttle buses, B39, and 4, 6, F trains will replace the J between Marcy Av and Broad St because of track maintenance.
      J trains will run between Jamaica Center and Marcy Av, the last stop.
      Free shuttle buses and the B39 will run between Marcy Av and Delancey-Essex Sts, connecting with the F.
      For Bowery, Chambers St, Fulton St, and Broad St, use nearby 4/6 stations. Transfer between the F and 6 at Bleecker St/B’way-Lafayette St. Transfer between the 6 and 4 at Brooklyn Bridge.
      For service between Brooklyn and Manhattan, take the A or L via transfer at Broadway Junction.

    L Train – Weeknight Planned Service Change

    • July 14 – 17, Tuesday to Friday, 12:01 AM to 1 AM
      L trains will run every 20 minutes because of structural maintenance.

    N Train – Weeknight Planned Service Change

    • July 13 – 17, Monday to Friday, 11:30 PM to 1 AM
      N trains will not run between 8 Av and 36 St, Brooklyn because of FASTRACK.
      Take the B63 and/or N shuttle trains.
      N trains will run in two sections:
      1. Between Ditmars Blvd and 36 St, and via the D to/from Stillwell Av.
      2. Shuttle trains between 8 Av and Stillwell Av, every 15 minutes.
      Use nearby B63 stops for 36 St, 45 St, 53 St, and 59 St.
      Transfer between trains and B63 buses at 36 St.
      For stations between 8 Av and 86 St, transfer between N and N shuttle trains at New Utrecht Av/62 St.

    Q Train – Weeknight Planned Service Change

    • July 13 – 16, Monday to Thursday, 11 PM to 11:59 PM
      The last stop for some uptown Q trains will be 57 St-7 Av because of track maintenance.
      Transfer at 57 St-7 Av to complete your trip.
      Trains will run every 20 minutes between 57 St-7 Av and 96 St.

    R Train – Weeknight Planned Service Change

    • July 13 – 17, Monday to Friday, 11:30 PM to 1 AM
      Overnight R service will be suspended because of FASTRACK.
      Take the B63, 4, D, N, and/or Q.
      Use nearby B63 stops between Bay Ridge-95 St and 36 St.
      For 25 St, Prospect Av, 4 Av-9 St, Union St, and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, take the D or N.
      For DeKalb Av, take the D, N, or Q.
      For Jay St-MetroTech, Court St, and Whitehall St, take the local N. Or, use nearby Borough Hall or Bowling Green 4 stations.
      Transfer at 36 St D/N/B63 bus or Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr 4/D/N/Q.

    MTA Long Island Railroad Updates:

    • Currently, More frequent service, including some weekday service to Long Island City and Hunterspoint Avenue.
    • About 90% of regular weekday trains are resuming operation.
    • Ticket offices at Penn Station, Jamaica Station, and Atlantic Terminal will reopen.

    MTA Metro-North Railroad Updates:

    • Essential service on most lines while regular service has returned to select lines. MTA has added trains on the Harlem, Hudson, and New Haven lines during the morning and evening rush.
    • Additional service as necessary.
    • July 13: Danbury Branch Train service resumes – for more info. see the MTA website HERE
    • Metro-North’s Pascack Valley and Port Jervis Lines will resume full, regular train service effective Monday, July 6.
    • MTA is running hourly service during these times:
      • Off-peak periods
      • Midday
      • Evenings
      • Late nights
      • Weekends
      • Holidays
