National Day is just 3 days away!

August 6, 2020

National day is happening this Sunday!

This year’s National Day is definitely like no other amid the pandemic raging through the world, Singapore included. Thanks to the frontliners and amazing Singaporeans who stayed vigilant during the last 6 months, Singapore had been ranked on one of the best countries in managing this outbreak, which gives us more reason to be proud of ourselves!

From all of us at Moovit (Even though most of us aren’t Singaporean😅), Happy National Day!

    Here are the changes:

    1) Changes to bus service for National Day Parade 2020

On 8th August 2020, 9 pm until 9th August 2020, 2 pm, buses plying these stops will be diverted away to give way to the National Day Parade 2020.

    2) Post-COVID19 Circuit Breaker Period – Changes to public transport services

We had entered Post-Covid19 Circuit Break Period since 2nd June. As a result, 18 routes from Franchised Bus Service, Express Bus Services, Night Buses and Chinatown Direct Bus Service that are catered for recreational demand will continue to be suspended. More details on the suspension can be found here.

    3) Early Closure & Late Opening of Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL)

To facilitate additional engineering hours to prepare the upcoming TEL Stage 2 which is scheduled to open later in the year, the Thomson-East Coast Line will be ending its service earlier at 9.00 pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays & starting its service later at 6.30 am on Saturdays and Sundays from until 26 July 2020

Apart from that, Thomson-East Coast Line will now end it’s service earlier at around 9.00pm everyday until 30th August 2020 to facilitate additional hours to test the systems in preparation of the opening of TEL Stage 2

    4) Recovery Movement Restriction Order in Malaysia

Reminder: All cross-border services between Malaysia and Singapore had been suspended since 18 March and will continue to be suspended until Malaysia and Singapore had worked out an SOP to reopen our borders. However, rail services by KTM, Shuttle Tebrau will continue its operation as usual with the exception where trips into Singapore can only be boarded by non-Malaysians and trips into Malaysia can only be boarded by Malaysians citizens.

Update: Both countries had since set a targeted date for Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL) & Periodic Commuting Agreement (PCA) Implementation on 10th August 2020. Requirements, health protocols, and application processes for both the RGL & PCA is available on Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) Website
