Navigate the MTA F & M Line Swap with Moovit!

December 7, 2025

Heads Up, Riders: The F and M Lines Are Swapping Routes!

Starting Monday, December 8, 2025, your weekday commute in Queens and Manhattan will change.

The MTA is implementing a significant, permanent route swap between the F and M trains to boost reliability across the entire Queens Boulevard corridor. We know change can be disruptive, but this move is expected to improve on-time performance for 1.2 million daily riders!

What You Need to Know: The Weekday Swap (6 AM – 9:30 PM)

The F and M subway lines will swap routes on weekdays between approximately 6:00 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. at four stations on each line in Manhattan, Queens, and Roosevelt Island.

    • New F Stops (via 53rd St line):

      • Queens Plaza

      • Court Sq-23 St

      • Lexington Av/53 St

      • 5 Av/53 St

    • New M Stops (via 63rd St line and Roosevelt Island):

      • 21 St-Queensbridge

      • Roosevelt Island

      • Lexington Av/63 St

      • 57 St

⚠️ Note: There will be no change to the current service pattern during late evenings, nights, or weekends.

Why the Switch? Smoother Service Starts Now

This strategic route swap fixes a major bottleneck in the system. By eliminating a tricky track merge at Queens Plaza, the MTA is reducing track congestion and isolating delays. The result? More consistent running times and fewer unexpected stops for everyone who uses E, F, M, and R lines.

Don’t wait until December 8th to plan your new trip! Get ready for a more reliable ride. Moovit is updated and ready to plan your new commute with you.
