🥳 New Year’s Eve Service — December 31, 2025
Ring in the New Year in Times Square or across the city! Huge crowds, street closures, and late-night celebrations make public transit the easiest way to get around.
Transit Highlights:
MTA Subway: Operating on a regular weekday schedule with increased evening service.
Extra Service: Additional trains on the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, C, D, G, L, N, Q, R, and 42nd St Shuttle.
Express Service: The A train will run express until 2:30 AM.
MTA Bus: Reduced weekday schedule in most boroughs; Staten Island on a “school closed” schedule. Bus routes in and around Midtown are subject to detours around road closures.
LIRR: 11 additional eastbound trains in the early evening to Grand Central Madison or Penn Station to get people to the celebrations. 12 additional trains in the early overnight hours will help riders heading back to Long Island from Penn Station or Grand Central Madison.
Metro-North: Special weekday schedule with extra late-evening and post-midnight service.
Travel Tip: Expect station access restrictions near Times Square. Some entrances may be exit-only.
