Whether you’re heading to the match or have somewhere to be in East Manchester, here’s what you need to know:
- There will be trams every six minutes between the Etihad Campus and the city centre on the Ashton line. Not a football fan? Try travelling on Saturday morning instead, when trams will be quieter.
- Have you tried Manchester City’s Match Day Bus Service yet? There’s 17 routes, covering 53 towns, and over 100 stops, meaning thousands of fans can travel to and from the Etihad efficiently and sustainably.
- After the match, In order to safely manage crowds, Holt Town, Velopark and Clayton Hall (towards the city centre) and stops will be closed.
Metrolink improvement works
Victoria engineering works
Engineering works will take place over the Early May Bank Holiday (Monday 6 May) to restore services between Victoria and Exchange Square, with a six-minute peak service through to Shaw and Crompton in Oldham.
- No tram service through Victoria on Monday 6 May. The Bury, Rochdale, East Didsbury and Airport lines will be affected, and bus replacement services will be in operation between affected stops.
National Rail strikes: Tuesday 7 to Thursday 9 May
The Aslef union has announced a new set of strikes dates, which will see rolling 24-hour walkouts between Tuesday 7 and Thursday 9 May.
- Greater Manchester will be most affected on the Wednesday and Thursday.
- On Wednesday 8 May, services from Avanti West Coast, Chiltern Railways, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, Great Western Railway and West Midlands Trains will be disrupted. Then on Thursday, it will be services operated by LNER, Northern and TransPennine Express.
- Drivers will first strike at c2c, Greater Anglia, Great Northern, Thameslink, Southeastern, Southern/Gatwick Express and South Western Railway on Tuesday 7 May.
In addition, there will not be any overtime working from Monday 6 to Saturday 11 May. If you are planning to take the train on any of these days, please make sure that you check your full journey with your operator in advance and immediately before travel, as there may be short-notice cancellations.
