What’s in Store?
🎄 Holiday Schedule Updates: Many agencies are offering alternative service for Christmas and New Year’s. As always, Moovit is updated. Plan your travels with our trip planner. We have also compiled a list of your favorite agencies below.
🚌 Real-Time Arrivals: Traveling during the Holiday season can be hectic but Moovit helps you stay informed with Real-Time arrival updates that let you know exactly when your bus/train/subway is arriving.

Christmas Service by Agency
- MTA Subway and Bus
- MTA will operate Sunday service on Christmas Day, Monday, December 25th.
- LIRR
- LIRR will operate Weekend service on Christmas Day.
- MNR
- The Harlem, Hudson, and New Haven Lines will run on a special reduced schedule on Christmas Day Monday, December 25. Service at most stations will run every hour.
- The New Canaan, Danbury, Waterbury, and Wassaic branches will run on a regular weekend schedule, but please check for possible changes in connecting train times.
- NJ Transit
- December 25th:
- Trains will operate on a weekend/holiday schedule (including Port Jervis Line Train 88).
- Buses will operate an adjusted Sunday schedule.
- Tuesday, December 26 through Friday, December 29
- NEC and NJCL trains will operate on a modified weekday schedule with additional late-morning trains on both lines. Certain NEC morning rush-hour trains will be canceled. See NEC and NJCL timetables for details.
- All other lines will operate on regular weekday schedules.
- December 25th:
- JFK Airtrain
- JFK Airtrain will operate regular service on Christmas Day.
- Regular overnight closures of the 9 St and 23 St stations will be suspended on both Sunday evening, Dec. 24 to Monday morning, Dec. 25, and Sunday evening, Dec. 31 to Monday morning, Jan. 1.
- PATH
- On Christmas Day, Monday, Dec. 25, and on New Year’s Day, Monday, Jan. 1, PATH will operate on a Saturday schedule.
- The following agencies will operate weekend service on Christmas Day:
- CT Transit
- NICE
- Suffolk County Transit
- Staten Island Railway
- Staten Island Ferry
- Greater Bridgeport Transit
- Lower Hudson Valley Transit
- Transport Of Rockland (Lines 59, 91, 93, and Loop 3 operate Sunday service. Lines 94, 95, and 97 do not operate/ Loop 1 and 2 operate weekday service.)
- Norwalk Transit District
- Shore Line East
- The following agencies will have no service on Christmas Day:
- Bee-Line Bus
- Suffolk County Transit
- LANTA
- Dutchess County Public Transit
- HART
- Housatonic Area Regional Transit
- Ulster County Area Transit
- River Valley Transit
