    Heading into downtown Kuala Lumpur for upcoming events at Dataran Merdeka? Whether you’re catching up with friends, enjoying the night, or joining cultural celebration, taking public transit is the fastest and stress-free way to navigate around road diversions and heavy traffic.

    Here is everything you need to know about road adjustments, bus reroutings, and extended rail operations to help you plan your journey seamlessly with Moovit.

    Road Closures & Affected Bus Routes

    Major roads surrounding Dataran Merdeka will be fully closed during event setup, rehearsals, and the main proceedings.

    Closure Schedule:

    • 24 July 2026: From 9:00 PM onward (until end of service)

    • 25 July 2026: From 6:00 PM onward (until end of service)

    Affected Roads:

    • Jalan Raja Laut

    • Jalan Tun Perak

    • Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman

    Affected Bus Routes:

    The following 13 bus routes will undergo temporary detours and diversions during the closure windows:

    Closed / Affected Bus Stops:

    Buses will bypass the following bus stops during the closure hours:

    • Dataran Merdeka (Jalan Raja)

    • Menara DBKL 2 (Jalan Raja Laut)

    • Coliseum (Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman)

    • Globe KL (Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman)

    • LRT Masjid Jamek Stops (both sides along Jalan Tun Perak)

    Extended Rail Station Operating Hours (Night of 25th July – Saturday)

    To support higher passenger volumes and late-night travel around the Merdeka area, operating hours for the following stations will be extended to 12.30am on Saturday Night (Night of 25th July):

    • Merdeka Station (MRT Kajang Line)

    • Maharajalela Station (KL Monorail Line)

    Note for commuters: While the mentioned stations keep their entry gates open until the extended closing time, all other downstream stations across the network will remain open for exit only so passengers can complete their journey home safely.

    Quick Tips for a Smooth Trip

    1. Top Up Early: Tap-and-go with your Touch ‘n Go card, but ensure you maintain a minimum balance of RM5 before entering the station to avoid queueing at reload kiosks.

    2. Follow In-Station Signage: Station staff and crowd-control marshals will be deployed to guide passenger flow during peak exodus hours.
