Changes in Train Traffic in Jerusalem, Ben Gurion Airport, Modi'in, and Northern, and Southern Regions

Dear riders,

We have collected several public transit changes that are worth getting to know about this weekend.


🚆 Israel Railways 

Temporary Changes to Train Traffic in the Ben Gurion Airport, Jerusalem, and Modi’in Area

Due to maintenance work, temporary changes will apply to train traffic in the Ben Gurion Airport, Jerusalem, and Modi’in area, starting on Thursday, 5.12.24 at 22:00 (approximately) and until Saturday evening, 7.12.24, upon the resumption of service.

  • The last two trains on the Nahariya-Modi’in line, departing from Nahariya at 21:48 and 22:47 on Thursday, 5.12.24, will end their journey at Tel Aviv HaHagana station instead of Modi’in station.
  • Trains on the Ben Gurion Airport-Nahariya line (the night trains between Thursday and Friday) will operate between the Tel Aviv HaHagana and Nahariya stations only and will not operate between the Ben Gurion Airport and Tel Aviv HaHagana stations.
  • Trains on the Jerusalem Yitzhak Navon-Herzliya line (including the night trains between Thursday and Friday) will operate between the Tel Aviv HaHagana and Herzliya stations only and will not operate between the Jerusalem Yitzhak Navon and Tel Aviv HaHagana stations.
  • Trains on the Modi’in-Tel Aviv Savidor Center line will not operate on Friday, 6.12.24

Train traffic will return to normal on Saturday evening, 7.12.24, upon the resumption of service.

A free shuttle system will operate for the passengers.

Changes in the Northern Region, Starting 7.12.24

Israel Railways is accelerating the electrification project in the Northern Region.

In addition to the work currently underway, starting Saturday, 7.12.24, additional changes will apply to train traffic due to the acceleration of the electrification in the Southern region as well as on the night trains.

The work will last about a year.

  • Atlit station will be closed to service every Saturday evening for the next few months. The section of the track between the Haifa Hof HaCarmel and Binyamina stations will be closed, and no continuous train travel will be possible between Haifa and Tel Aviv (the Coastal railway line).
  • The night between Saturday evening and Sunday: night trains will operate between the Binyamina and Ben Gurion Airport stations only. Nahariya, Akko, Kiryat Motzkin, Haifa Center HaShmona, and Haifa Hof HaCarmel stations will be closed during the night.
  • Suburban trains on the Binyamina-Ashkelon line will operate unchanged and will provide service at all intermediate stations.
  • On Fridays only, train traffic between the Haifa Hof HaCarmel and Binyamina stations will end between 12:00-13:00 at noon (approximately) instead of between 13:00-14:00.
  • On Sundays-Thursdays, starting at 21:00, trains on the Bet She’an-Atlit line will end/begin their journey at Haifa Hof HaCarmel station and will not continue to Atlit station.

Bus reinforcement by the Ministry of Transport due to electrification works, starting Saturday evening, 7.12.24

The Ministry of Transport and Road Safety is working to reduce the temporary inconvenience to the passenger public by reinforcing regular bus services in areas affected by the railway works.

The following are details on bus reinforcements:

  • Doubling the service on line 909 between Tel Aviv and Nahariya (via Haifa, Hadera, and Netanya), starting at 12:00 on Friday and until the end of service on Saturday evening, during all operating hours.
  • Doubling the service on line 910 between Tel Aviv and Haifa (via Herzliya, Netanya, Hadera, and other stations), starting at 12:00 on Friday and until the end of service on Saturday evening, during all operating hours.
  • Operating night line number 905 between Haifa and Ben Gurion Airport regularly, on the night between Saturday and Sunday (on other nights, the night train between Nahariya and Ben Gurion Airport continues to operate as usual).
  • Adding 20 trips between Karmiel and Haifa on Saturday evening regularly, due to the cancellation of the train connection between the two hubs on that day.
  • Line 380 continues to connect between Be’er Sheva and Tel Aviv on Fridays and Saturday evenings.

Changes in the Southern Region Starting Saturday Evening, 7.12.24

  • Be’er Sheva Center, Be’er Sheva North University, Lehavim Rahat, Kiryat Gat, Kiryat Malachi, and Mazkeret Batya stations will be closed every Saturday evening, and trains on this line will begin and end their journey at Lod station.
  • On Fridays only, train traffic at the Beer Sheva Central, Beer Sheva North University, Lehavim Rahat, Kiryat Malachi, Kiryat Gat and Mazkeret Batya stations will end at 12:00 noon (approximately), instead of 15:00.
  • Sunday-Thursday – Be’er Sheva Cetner station will close at 21:00 and trains will begin and end their journey at Be’er Sheva North University station.
