    SFMTA (Muni):

    In May, SFMTA is planning to restart more Muni Metro rail service, extending the T Third Metro rail route between Sunnydale and West Portal. For more information, click here. SFMTA will also resume service for the K Ingleside and N Judah on May 15th. For more information, click here.

    As of January 23, the T Third has resumed rail service between Sunnydale and Embarcadero Stations. Additional rail service is scheduled to resume in February and March 2021. On January 23, multiple bus routes will be extended & increase frequency to address crowding. Several bus routes will also be brought back into service and two new routes will be added (55 Dogpatch & 15 Bayview-Hunters Point Express).     As of December 19, Muni Metro has begun to resume its rail service starting with the J Church between Balboa Park Station and Church and Duboce streets. As of August 22, SF Muni has significantly expanded its service schedule to resume or expand 11 bus routes, and increase frequency on 13 bus routes. A full list of the changes can be found here. Service hours will be approximately 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily unless otherwise noted. Owl network service hours will remain approximately 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. daily unless otherwise noted.

    Golden Gate Transit is now permitting local bus rides within San Francisco in an effort to help SFMTA as it makes necessary service reductions during the current COVID-19 pandemic. For more information, click here(opens in a new window).

    Fares & Boarding: Face coverings are required for people in San Francisco when waiting for or riding transit. Backdoor boarding is now required on all vehicles, except for passengers in wheelchairs or with other accessibility needs. SFMTA is also offering an Essential Trip Card to help seniors and people with disabilities take and pay for  essential trips in taxis during the COVID-19 pandemic. For more information, click here.

    BART:

    Starting Saturday, March 27, Saturday and Sunday will have identical schedules.  Saturday service will run as three route service (Yellow, Orange, and Blue) which means some riders may have to transfer to finish their trip as they do on Sundays.     As of March 22, 2021, BART has made some minor schedule adjustments to its weekday schedule. Train frequency will remain the same. The new schedule adds 26 additional trips to enhance 15-minute commute periods.  As of September 14, BART’s schedule has been updated to add more frequency during peak commute times on several lines. For more information, click here. BART service hours will continue to be 5:00 AM-9:00 PM on Monday-Friday and 8:00 AM-9:00 PM Saturday and Sunday with earlier morning trains on weekends.

    Service on all 13 Early Bird Express (EBX) bus routes has been reduced or discontinued until further notice. The following routes have been discontinued; 703, 707, 708, 709, 712, and 715. Routes 701, 702, 704, 705, 706, 713, and 714 are continuing to run with a reduced number of trips. For more information, click here.

    Fares & Boarding: County health orders in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, and San Mateo require all riders to wear face coverings inside BART stations and on-board trains. Enforcement begins Wednesday, April 22, 2020. For more information, click here.

    AC Transit:

    Starting Monday, April 19, AC Transit reinstated several supplementary bus lines to some schools around the East Bay. For more information, click here.

    As March 28, 2021, AC Transit has implemented minor stop changes to lines 7, 18, 20, 21, 57, 72, 72M, 72R, 76, 376, & 800. Supplemental service will also be partially be restored on lines 604, 605, 606, 680, & 682. In addition to these changes, one weekday trip was added to line 86. For more information, click here.

    AC Transit service changes effective December 20, 2020,  focus on improving reliability and service quality and include the following initiatives:

    • Service additions on lines 20, 52, 57, 86, and O
    • Revised operation on Line 21 due to the suspension of the Harbor Bay Ferry Service
    • Minor scheduled changes on lines 1T, 6, 10, 12, 14, 18, 28, 33, 40, 41, 51B, 54, 56, 65, 70, 71, 72, 72M, 73, 74, 200, 210, 232, 239, 251, 376, 800, 801, 802, 851, F and NL
    • Supplementary Service to schools remains suspended until further notice.
    • In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, AC Transit has temporarily suspended service on lines throughout the service area. More info.

    Fares & Boarding: AC Transit has resumed fare collection as of October 19th. Fare payment for the Tempo rapid bus service has started as of November 9. All buses with multiple doors will be boarded from the rear-door. If a bus nears capacity, our operators may bypass stops and display “Drop-Off Only”. Riders on board can continue to exit buses at their requested stop. Effective immediately,  AC Transit is requiring riders to wear a face-covering that covers the nose and mouth when at bus stops or onboard.

    ACE:

     ACE trains 05 & 06 will return to service on May 3rd.

    As of March 29, ACE 01 is now departing 10 minutes earlier. For more information, click here.

    Saturday service and ACE 05, 06, 07 & 10 are temporarily suspended. The shuttle services for these trains are also suspended. Train sizes have been reduced. For more information, click here.

    Fares & Boarding: ACE has suspended in-person ticket sales at the Lathrop/Manteca and Tracy stations. ACE will continue to offer in-person ticket sales at their Stockton station in the morning and evening and our Pleasanton station in the morning.

    Blue & Gold Fleet:

    As of March 5, Blue & Gold Fleet has resumed Friday – Sunday service to Angel Island.

    Caltrain:

    Effective April 26, 2021, train Service will resume at Hillsdale Station.

    Starting Monday, March 22, Caltrain will adjust its weekday and weekend timetables to support regional transit connections.

    Caltrain’s service adjustments will include the following: Maintaining BART connections at the Millbrae Transit Center to coincide with BART’s upcoming March 22 service changes. Increasing weekday service from 68 to 70 trains. Improving weekday morning & evening service. Adjusting weekday train departure times to improve schedule reliability. Weekend service to/from Tamien station will be modified to meet ridership demand.     The Atherton station has permanently closed as of December 19th. As of Monday, December 14, Caltrain has started operating on a new schedule. The new schedule provides 68 trains during the weekday, with two trains per hour, per direction running throughout the day. Caltrain will now provide hourly Local service on weekends instead of the current 90 minute frequency. Weekend Baby Bullet service will be discontinued. Train service will be extended to the Tamien station, eliminating the weekend and holiday Tamien-San Jose Diridon Shuttle. The weekend changes also include a separate schedule for Saturdays and Sundays to maintain connections from/to Millbrae BART. For more information, click here.

    Fares & Boarding: Caltrain passengers are required to wear face coverings until further notice. There are no changes to fares and boarding at this time. Caltrain is strongly encouraging all passengers to wear face-covering while on transit.

    Capitol Corridor:

    Capitol Corridor has implemented a new schedule as of Monday, March 29, 2021.  This new schedule continues eight round trips on weekdays and five on weekends, with the eventual intent to return to the pre-pandemic level of 15 round trips on weekdays and 10 on weekends.     As of October 12, the Davis, Martinez, Emeryville, and San Jose stations are operating under new hours. As of September 10, bus service has been restored to the three northernmost bus stops on service from Martinez to Eureka (McKinleyville-Airport, Arcata-Transit Plaza Depart, & Eureka-Denny’s Depart).     As of August 15, Capitol Corridor has reinstated limited connecting bus service between Emeryville and San Francisco. For more information, click here. Capitol Corridor is currently running eight weekday round trips, with five of these round trips serving stations south of Oakland Jack London Square to San Jose. Weekend service will remain at five round trips, and schedule times will be modified to align with ridership demand.     Fares & Boarding: Face coverings are required on all trains, buses, and at stations. Effective immediately and until further notice, the Capitol Corridor is only taking cashless payments in stations and onboard trains.

    County Connection:

    Spring service changes have taken effect as of Sunday, March 21, 2021. This includes various  schedule adjustments to to Routes 6, 10, 17, 20, 27, 310, 311, 314, 315, 320, 321, & 335. For more information, click here.

    Fares & Boarding: Fare collection has resumed on November 1st. For more information, click here.  The county of Contra Costa is requiring members of the public to wear facial coverings in public. Members of the public must wear a mask when they wait in line or ride public transportation. For more information, click here.  Fare collection has been suspended on all routes including paratransit.

    Dumbarton Express:

    As of Monday, June 15, the DB and DB1 lines are operating under new schedules. To view the updated DB line schedule, click here.

    Fares & Boarding: Fare collection has resumed as of 10/19. Passengers should board through the rear door of buses, unless passengers require a ramp or priority seating.

    Fairfield and Suisun Transit (FAST):

    Current Service Changes: As of July 6, new schedules have been implemented for SolanoExpress and FAST local services. To view the updated schedules, click here.

    Fares & Boarding: Fares & Boarding: FAST is recommending all riders wear face coverings while riding FAST or SolanoExpress routes. Fare collection has been temporarily suspended on local buses and the paratransit DART service. All local routes will be boarded through the rear door unless riders require priority seating or a wheelchair ramp.

    Golden Gate Transit:

    Due to social-distancing requirements, Golden Gate Transit is limiting the number of passengers per bus: 9 passengers on a 40-foot bus and 11 passengers on a 45-foot coach. When a bus reaches capacity, riders may have to wait for the next bus or find an alternative route. They have increased capacity on some trips with the addition of an extra trip that shadows crowded buses. Click here for more info.

    Golden Gate Transit has made the following minor schedule changes as of March 14, 2021. Trip times at some stops have been adjusted for Routes 70 & 101. Routes 30, 70 & 101 are operating under the same schedules as Saturdays and Sundays/Holidays. Northbound times at the Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza have been removed. Buses still serve the Toll Plaza stop but will not wait for a posted time before departing the stop. Service on Routes 2, 4, 4C, 8, 18, 24, 24C, 24X, 25, 38, 38A, 40X, 54C, 56X, 58, 72X, 74, 76, 92, and 101X remains suspended.

    Golden Gate Ferry weekday commute ferry service has been reduced, some trip times have been adjusted. Weekend ferry service and service to Chase Center have been suspended. For more information including updated schedules, click here.

    Fares & Boarding: All riders are required to wear face coverings to board a bus or ferry. Riders may be refused service if they do not have a face covering. Golden Gate Transit and Golden Gate Ferry are limiting the number of passengers on its buses and ferries to ensure compliance with social distancing public health orders.     Wheels Bus (Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority):

    Service for Pleasanton, Livermore Valley, and Dublin unified school districts have resumed as of 3/29. Routes 501-504 and 601-611 will depart 10 minutes following dismissal time. For more information, click here. LAVTA weekday service is operating on a weekend service schedule except for Rapid routes. Service after 11:00 PM has been discontinued. Routes 2, 11, 20X, 70X and 580X are cancelled. Alternative service will be available via route 30R and LAVTA’s GoDublin program.  Rapid Routes 10R and 30R are operating on a 30 minute frequency. The 500 & 600-series school service bus lines have been suspended. For more information, click here.     Fares & Boarding:   As of October 1, LAVTA has resumed charging fares for all Wheels, Rapid and Dial-a-Ride paratransit services. Effective immediately, face masks or coverings are required for all transit passengers.

    Marin Transit:

    Effective Monday, February 22, Supplemental Routes 117122125135145, and 151 will have adjusted service. More info.

    Monterey-Salinas Transit:

    Line 40 begins seasonal service to Spreckels starting Sunday, April 4th.

    Effective February 6, 2021

    • Line 1: Addition of early morning and evening trips on weekdays, as well as evening trips on Saturdays.
    • Line 2: Addition of early morning trips on weekdays, and evening trips after 7 PM weekdays and Saturdays.
    • Line 24: Addition of weekday and Saturday evening trips, as well as other minor time adjustments.
    • Line 44: Returning to pre-pandemic service levels, with added trips Monday-Saturday.
    • Line 45: Returning to pre-pandemic service levels, with added trips Monday-Saturday.
    • Line 49: Limited service provided to Salinas Intermodal Transportation Center (AMTRAK) during train operating times (10 AM – 8 PM).
    • All Senior Shuttle Routes (Lines 61, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95) will temporarily reduce the base fare from $2.50 to $1.50.

    Petaluma Transit:

    Fare collection resumed on February 1st. Passengers will board through the rear door of buses. Front door boarding will only be reserved for passengers who need the ramp or priority seating. As of April 17, the County of Sonoma is requiring members of the public to wear facial coverings in public. For more information, click here.


    SamTrans:

    Various school routes have resumed for Parkside, Borel and Tierra Linda Middle Schools and Menlo-Atherton, Woodside High Schools, Ben Franklin Intermediate School, Lipman Middle School and Carlmont High School. For more information on school routes, click here.

    As of January 17, Route 250 has gone back to running every 30 minutes, and has resumed service to the College of San Mateo (CSM). Routes 260 and 294 have also gone back to stopping at CSM, and will run once per hour. Routes 17110, and 295 have also been slightly adjusted to improve the efficiency of the system. For more information, click here. As of Sunday, September 27, Route 17 will have a new Southbound trip that will depart Linda Mar Park and Ride at 8:55 PM and terminate at Main/Poplar on weekdays. Drop-offs after Main/Poplar are by request only. To view updated schedules, click here. As of August 16, SamTrans has increased service and implemented a modified schedule. The new schedule restores more frequent service on 14 routes, including ECR120130, and 292, to accommodate increased ridership and allow for physical distancing onboard. The service plan also makes adjustments to routes primarily serving schools in response to their plans for distance learning. For more information, click here.

    Fares & Boarding: Fare payment on fixed-route and paratransit services have resumed as of August 16. This includes the resumption of front-door boarding. Customers are encouraged to use contactless payment methods when riding SamTrans.


    Santa Cruz Metro:

    Spring schedule in effect from Apr 6, 2021 – Jun 9, 2021. Santa Cruz METRO will implement additional service to serve Santa Cruz and San Lorenzo Valley (SLV) schools as they return to partial in-person learning. Service on the routes 40 and 41 will resume and an additional afternoon trip on route 42 will operate on weekdays starting on April 6th, 2021. School Term (ST) service to SLV on route 35 will resume on April 20th, 2021. More info.

    Fares & Boarding: Mandatory Face Covering: No Mask, No Ride (unless exempt, which a face shield will be required) Maximum of 10 – 15 passengers per size of METRO bus: Per the Santa Clara County Public Health Order, Hwy 17 bus capacity is limited to 8 passengers plus 2 ADA seats.

    Santa Rosa CityBus:

    Effective Sunday, November 1, Santa Rosa CityBus will begin operating on a new weekend schedule. For more information on these changes, click here.

    Fares & Boarding: Santa Rosa CityBus and Santa Rosa Paratransit will resume fare collections effective Monday, February 1, 2021.

    SF Bay Ferry:

    Starting on July 1, SF Bay Ferry will implement an enhanced service schedule and temporary lower fares for riders. The lower fares will be in place for one year as a promotion to spur ridership. For more information, click here.

    Midday ferry service for the Alameda/Oakland Routes has resumed as of November 16. For more information, click here. Ferry service is currently suspended on the Harbor Bay and South San Francisco routes and reduced on the Vallejo, Alameda/Oakland, and Richmond routes. There is no service to Pier 41 S.F. or Mare Island. For more information and updated schedules, click here.

    Fares & Boarding: Passengers over the age of 12 are required to wear masks or face coverings while boarding and onboard the SF Bay Ferry.

    SMART:

    SMART is operating on a modified weekday schedule. The modified weekday schedule will operate 16 train trips per day, serving all stations, and will remain in effect until further notice. All weekend service and several weekday trains have been temporarily canceled.     SolTrans:

    As of Sunday, July 5, SolTrans has increased frequency by two extra trips at the end of the day during the week.  The yellow and red line will also modify its schedule to add trips and modify departure times. The 82 will be reinstated. For more information, click here. SolTrans has reduced Local, SolanoExpress and Paratransit service on Saturdays. Routes 12, 15, 17, 38, and 82 have been temporarily suspended. Routes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8 will no longer operate on weekends. The agency will be running an enhanced Sunday schedule on Saturdays. Enhancements include service to Fairfield and additional trips to El Cerrito del Norte. For additional information on the service reductions and updated schedules for continuing routes, click here.

    Fares & Boarding: Effective June 15, SolTrans has resumed fare collection on all Local, SolanoExpress, and Paratransit services. SolTrans is requiring all riders to wear a facial covering while boarding and riding the bus, this requirement does not apply to children under the age of 5 or to individuals who are unable to wear a face-covering due to a medical condition, For riders who do not already have one, face masks will be distributed on-board buses for a limited time.

    Sonoma County Transit:

    Route 68 is operating on a Monday – Saturday schedule. Route 30 is operating on its daily schedule. Route 40 is operating on a weekday schedule.  For more information, click here.     Fares & Boarding: Fare collection is currently suspended on Sonoma County Transit and Sonoma County Paratransit and will resume on February 1st except for the following lines which will remain free: 10, 12, 14, 24, 28, 32, 66, 67 & 68

    Tri Delta Transit:

    Tri Delta Transit has implemented new timetables for several routes as of March 21. For more information, click here.

    Fares & Boarding: Fare collection and front door boarding will resume on January 1, 2021. Currently, fare collection has been suspended on all buses. All buses will be boarded through the rear door unless riders require a wheelchair ramp. Effective immediately, all riders are required to wear a mask or face covering in order to board any of the Tri Delta Transit buses.

    Union City Transit:

    As of March 22, Union City Transit has made various scheduling changes to correspond with the recent BART schedule. For more information, click here. changes. Routes 7 and 9 continue to be suspended during this time; use Routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 8 along with AC Transit Lines 41, 56, and 97 to reach your destination.

    Fares & Boarding: Per the Alameda County Health Officer Order 20-08, all passengers are required to cover their faces. Paratransit riders may be asked additional health questions before boarding the vehicle.

    VINE:

    No service on Routes 10X and 11X. Route 10 will not stop at the Veterans Home. Napa Valley College will not be served unless requested by a passenger. For more information, click here.

    Fares & Boarding: Fare collection has resumed on September 13 on all Vine services. For more information, click here. The use of face coverings is now required onboard all Vine vehicles. All fares for Vine buses, community shuttles, and para-transit service will be waived until further notice. All buses will be boarded through the rear door unless riders require priority seating or a wheelchair ramp.

    VTA:

    As of February 8, VTA has increased the frequency of bus routes 23, 25, 64, 66, 68, 71, & 77 to address the issue of passenger pass ups. For more information, click here.

    As of October 12, weekdays service during peak hours for Route 21 will be increased to operate every thirty minutes, for Route 52, The timepoint at El Monte & Foothill will be moved to El Monte & El Camino, Weekday schedule changes will be made on the following routes: 21, 51, 56, 66, 83. Weekend schedule changes will be made on the following routes: 21, 85. For more information, click here.

    As of September 14, VTA adjusted the schedule of the Rapid 500 bus. These changes match VTA’s service to BART, making transfers more reliable when passengers arrive at Berryessa/North San Jose. For more information, click here.

    As of Monday, August 10th, VTA has increased its bus and light rail service. All bus routes (except Express 121) will return to service. For more information, click here.

    Weekday light rail service has been extended and is now running from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Weekend service on all light rail lines is also operating from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM. In addition to these changes, VTA has restored and extended service hours on various bus routes as of June 8th. For a full list of these service changes, click here.

    As of, Saturday, June 13th, the Express 181 route from the San Jose Diridon Station to the BART Warm Springs Station has been discontinued. Service is being replaced by the Rapid 500. The Rapid 500 route will operate between the Berryessa BART Station and Downtown San Jose. For more information, click here.

    Fares & Boarding:  Fare collection has resumed for all bus, train, and paratransit service as of August 1. All VTA riders are required to wear face coverings beginning May 4th.

    WestCat:

    Route JX bus service has been suspended. Lynx Transbay Service to Salesforce Transit Center is operating on a Holiday/MLK Day Schedule. No school service.

    WestCAT is also operating on a modified service schedule for weekend service. To see a full list of weekend service changes, click here.

    Fares & Boarding: WestCAT is temporarily limiting passenger capacity on all buses in support of social distancing measures. Please be aware that you may be asked to wait for another bus if a bus has already reached a safe passenger capacity.

    Fare collection has been suspended on all services including Paratransit. WestCat has implemented rear-door boarding on all fixed-route buses. In accordance with County requirements, face masks are required to be worn while waiting for or while riding WestCAT buses.  For more information on face coverings, click here.
