Festive Season Travel Arrangements & Disruptions Update

    First Bus Glasgow

    From Sunday 24th December until Tuesday 2nd January, we will operate revised service levels.

    Sunday 24 December 2023

    • Sunday timetables will operate.*most services will be withdrawn from approx 2100hrs.
    • Night Services will operate Sunday early hours.

    Monday 25 December (Christmas Day)

    • No services will operate.

    Tuesday 26 December 

    • Sunday timetables will operate on all services.

    Wednesday 27th – Friday 29th December

    • Saturday timetables will operate except service 202 which will operate a normal weekday timetable.
    • A special timetable will operate on service 242 for Maxim.

    Saturday 30th December

    • Saturday timetables will operate on all services.
    • Night services will operate from Friday late evening until early hours Saturday AM.

    Sunday 31 December (Hogmanay)

    • Sunday timetables will operate. *most services will be withdrawn from approx 2100hrs.
    • FREE travel will be offered on Night Bus Services N2, N18, N240 and N267 for Hogmanay celebrations. Running from Sunday late evening until early hours Monday AM.

     

    McGill’s Scotland East (Midland Bluebird)

    Saturday 23rd December – All Midland Bluebird buses will operate to normal timetable.

    Sunday 24th December –  Most buses will run to Sunday timetable, and some will stop early. Buses on the 7, 8, 29, 35, C11, C30, F14/F14A, F16, F25, F45, H1, H2 and 68 won’t run.

    Monday 25th December –  Most buses will not run. The X38 will run to a Christmas Day timetable every 2 hours between Linlithgow and Edinburgh, supported by West Lothian Council.

    Tuesday 26th December –  Most buses will not run. The 312 will run to Sunday timetable and the X38 will run to a Boxing Day timetable every 2 hours between Linlithgow and Edinburgh, supported by West Lothian Council.

    Wednesday 27th December – Most buses will run to Saturday timetable. Buses on the 312, C11, F14/F14A, F16, F25, F45, 20 and Bright Bus Tours will run to normal timetable.

    Thursday 28th December – Most buses will run to Saturday timetable. Buses on the 312, C11, F14/F14A, F16, F25, F45, 20 and Bright Bus Tours will run to normal timetable.

    Friday 29th December – Most buses will run to Saturday timetable. Buses on the 312, C11, F14/F14A, F16, F25, F45, 20  and Bright Bus Tours will run to normal timetable.

    Saturday 30th December – Most buses will run to Saturday timetable. Buses on the 312, F45 and Bright Bus Tours will run to normal timetable.

    Sunday 31st December –  Most buses will run to Sunday timetable, and some will stop early. Buses on the 7, 8, 29, 35, C11, C30, F14/F14A, F16, F25, F45, H1 and H2 won’t run. Bright Bus Tours will finish early at 3pm.

     

    Edinburgh Trams

    Tram services throughout the festive period will be as follows:

    • Christmas Eve – Sunday 24th December 2023: Normal Sunday service with trams from every 7 minutes.
    • Christmas Day – Monday 25th December: Sorry, no services will run today.
    • Boxing Day – Tuesday 26th December: Normal weekday service with trams from every 7 minutes.
    • Wednesday 27th – Friday 29th December: Normal weekday services with trams from every 7 minutes.
    • Saturday 30th December: Normal Saturday service until 7pm when the Hogmanay Street party road closures take effect. This means the network will split into two sections: Trams will run from every 10 minutes between Edinburgh Airport – West End, and Picardy Place – Newhaven.
      December 30st
      • The last full route tram to Newhaven leaves the Airport at 18:21 and Princes Street at 18:52.
      • The last full route tram to Edinburgh Airport leaves Newhaven at 18:30 and Princes Street at 18:53.
      • The last tram from Picardy Place to Newhaven is at 00:13.
      • The last tram from West End to Airport is at 00:22.
    • Sunday 31st December – New Year’s Eve: The split service will operate all day with trams running between Edinburgh Airport – West End, and Picardy Place – Newhaven from every 10 minutes. There are no trams to Princes Street or St Andrew Square stops due to the Hogmanay Street party road closures.

    • After midnight, all trams will be FREE to help everyone get home safely!The split service will run between West End – Airport and Picardy Place – Newhaven, serving all stops along the way.
      • Between Midnight and 2am trams will run from every 10 minutes.
      • From 2am to the normal start of service trams will run from every 20 minutes.
