Service Updates, Changes, Alerts & More!

    WMATA 

    Major Alert:

    • Expect continued delays & reduced service on Metrorail until 2022 – It is recommended to check Metrobus alternatives.

    Metrorail Updates:

        • Metrorail operates on the following schedules – Monday through Thursday, 5:00 a.m. until 12:00 a.m. – Friday, 5:00 a.m. until 1:00 a.m. – Saturday: 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 a.m.- Sunday: 7:00 a.m. until 12:00 a.m.
        • Reduced Service until further notice – continue to check app alerts for relevant updates & info.

    Weekday service info.

        • Red Line Trains – Trains will operate every 10-15 minutes w/6-car trains. Expect delays & consider Metrobus alternatives.
        • Blue Line Trains – Trains will operate every 20-30 minutes w/6-car trains. Expect delays & consider Metrobus alternatives.
        • Orange Line Trains – Trains will operate every 20-30 minutes w/6-car trains. Expect delays & consider Metrobus alternatives.
        • Silver Line Trains – Trains will operate every 20-30 minutes w/6-car trains. Expect delays & consider Metrobus alternatives.
        • Yellow Line Trains – Trains will operate every 20-30 minutes w/6-car trains. Expect delays & consider Metrobus alternatives.
        • Green Line Trains – Trains will operate every 20-30 minutes w/6-car trains. Expect delays & consider Metrobus alternatives.

    Weekend service adjustments

        • Red Line Trains operate every 15-20 minutes between Twinbrook and Glenmont only; Shady Grove and Rockville stations closed. Free shuttle buses provided.
        • Blue Line, Silver Line, Green Line, Yellow Line & Orange Line Trains operate every 20-30 minutes. Expect delays & consider Metrobus alternatives.

    • Due to construction, Bus Bay B at Capitol Heights station (stop ID #3002957) will close from Wednesday, December 1 to Saturday, December 11 – for more info. see HERE

    • Due to construction, a northbound bus stop located on 16th St NW at V St (stop ID #1002914) will temporarily close from Wednesday, December 1, 2021, until Sunday, December 5, 2021 – for more info. see HERE

    3Y, 16Y, 32, 33, 36, 42, 43, 52, 54, 59, 63, 64, 80, G8, L2, N2, N4 & S2

    • On Thursday, December 2, 2021, buses will detour from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm due to the 2021 National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on the Ellipse at the White House. Riders are encouraged to allow additional travel time and plan ahead

    Local Bus Updates & Alerts:

    • To reduce the spread of COVID-19, all riders using public transit including local bus, light rail, metro subway, commuter bus, MARC Train, and Mobility/paratransit service are REQUIRED to wear face coverings.

    LightRail Updates:

    • BWI Airport Terminal Restriction from 11:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m. except for passengers and employees with official business until December 31, 2021 – more info. HERE

    Montgomery County Ride-On

    • Resuming December 1st until the 2nd, between 7:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., Montgomery County Department of Transportation will be painting/marking streets around the Germantown Transit Center. The following Ride On Routes will detour due to striping on Crystal Rock Dr and Century Blvd: 55, 61, 75, 83, 97, 98, and 100.
    • Fares remain free on all MCDOT buses at least through January 2022.
    • Rockville and Shady Grove Metro Station Construction and Closures have relocated buses to temporary stops on the west side of the Rockville station until December 4th
