Shorter Service on EWL and Emergency Exercise at Newton

    EWL won’t close the whole Sunday but shorter operating hours continue.

    Here is what you need to know from 2 -4 Feb.

    Affected train stations on EWL are:  Paya Lebar – Pasir Ris, & Tanah Merah – Changi Airport.

    2 February, Friday

    • East West Line ends at 11:00 pm
    • Service on North South Line between Orchard & Marina South Pier runs at 10-15 min intervals after 11:00 pm
    • No service between City Hall and Raffles Place MRT stations after 11:00 pm

    3 February, Saturday

    • East West Line starts late at 8:00 am and ends at 11:00 pm
    • Service on North South Line between Orchard & Marina South Pier runs at 10-15 min intervals before 7:00 am and after 11:00 pm
    • No service between City Hall and Raffles Place MRT stations before 7:00 am and after 11:00 pm

    9 SBS Transit bus services – 60A, 63M, 222, 225G, 228, 229, 291, 292 and 293  will run until 01:30am on the two days to cope with the early closure of EWL.

    4 February, Sunday

    • East West Line starts late at 8:00 am
    • Service on North South Line between Orchard & Marina South Pier runs at 10-15 min intervals before 7:00 am
    • No service between City Hall and Raffles Place MRT stations before 7:00 am
    • Sengkang-Punggol LRT stations will open at 5.30am as usual, there will be train services on only one platform at selected segments until 7am.
    4 Shuttle bus services will provide services at those stations for better commute.

    They will run at 3-5 min intervals during peak and 5-10 min intervals off-peak.

    • Shuttle 7: Aljuined ⇌ Pasir Ris
    • Shuttle 8: Tanah Merah ⇌ Changi Airport T3
    • Shuttle 11 :Aljunied → MacPerson
    • Express 12: Changi Airport ⇌ Bugis
    Apart from the changes that you might have been familiar, on Sunday, there will be an emergency exercise for security at Newton MRT station (DDL) from 10am to 6pm.

    During the exercise, the faregates at Exit C of the station will be closed and will be designated for Exit Only commuters.

    Commuters can enter through faregates near Exit A instead, where they will undergo security screening.

    But entrances and exits of the Newton MRT station on the North-South Line will not be affected.
