π Great Western Railway: Hot Weather Timetable Amendments
Due to high mid-summer track temperatures and infrastructure protection protocols, GWR has implemented emergency speed restrictions and route alterations from 14:00 to 21:00 daily through to Thursday 9 July:
Mainline Restructuring: To minimise track junction usage, high-speed services will strictly utilise the mainline between London Paddington and Reading.
Service Terminations: Services originating from Didcot Parkway and Newbury will terminate and restart at Reading rather than continuing to London. Passengers must change at Reading for forward travel.
Oxford Route Modifications: Select services between London Paddington and Oxford are suspended during peak afternoon hours. Additional stops have been added at Maidenhead and Twyford to support displaced commuters.
π Regional Bus Network Diversions
Major road resurfacing and emergency infrastructure repairs are triggering considerable diversions on regional bus networks this week:
A390 Grampound Closure (Cornwall): Essential overnight roadworks on the A390 at Grampound (active 19:00 to 06:00 nightly) mean that regional service 27 is completely unable to serve Grampound, Hewas Water, Sticker, Trelowth, or St Mewan. Buses are being diverted via the A3058.
North Stratton Overnight Closures (Cornwall/Devon Border): Nightly closures between Red Post and Stratton (19:00 to 06:00) have forced service 76 onto a wide diversion via Kilkhampton, bypassing all standard stops between the two hubs.
Troon Infrastructure Interruption: Due to an active sinkhole in the central carriageway, services 49 and 49A remain unable to reach the centre of Troon until further notice, turning around early at Grenville Garage.
