Subway Closing for Overnight Disinfection

May 4, 2020

MTA Subway in New York City will be shutting down from 1 AM to 5 AM starting Wednesday, May 6th.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and transit officials decided to shut down the NYC Subway from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m., hoping to provide more time for the disinfecting of trains, equipment, and stations during the pandemic.

There will be free, alternative modes of transit available for essential workers who need to travel during that time, according to the MTA.

Bus service will continue throughout the night as scheduled, and the agency will add additional buses where it is needed when the late-night subway service is suspended.

    Safe Travels!
