Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need.
- The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
- Maintenance work is being prioritized during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains.
- Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.
Metro
Tuesday 3 to Thursday 5 October
- Daily from 9.20am to 3pm and nightly from 8.25pm, some metro services will run to a reduced frequency between Tallawong and Chatswood.
Friday 6 October
- From 9.20am to 3pm and from 9.35pm, some metro services will run to a reduced frequency between Tallawong and Chatswood.
Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 October
- Buses replace metro between Tallawong and Chatswood.
T1 Western Line
Monday 2 October
- Richmond trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Leppington.
- Change trains at Parramatta to continue your journey towards the City.
Tuesday 3 to Thursday 5 October
- Nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, most trains make extra stops at Homebush and Burwood.
T2 Inner West & Leppington Line
Monday 2 October
- Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Leppington and the City via Granville or Regents Park.
Tuesday 3 to Thursday 5 October
- Some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern.
- Nightly from 9.40pm to 1.30am, buses replace Inner West trains between Strathfield and Central.
- Leppington trains run to a changed timetable, making an extra stop at Homebush but will not stop at Ashfield.
T3 Bankstown Line
Monday 2 to Thursday 5 October
- Buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Sydenham.
- Some trains run to a changed timetable.
Saturday 7 October
- From 9.30pm to 2am, buses replace trains between Bankstown and Central.
- Trains run between Liverpool or Lidcombe and Bankstown some to a changed timetable.
T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line
Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 October
- Buses replace trains between Cronulla, Waterfall and Central.
- Trains run to a changed timetable between Bondi Junction and Central.
T5 Cumberland Line
Tuesday 3 to Thursday 5 October
- Some trains run to a changed timetable.
Sunday 8 October
- From 6.30am to 12.30pm, trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond or Schofields and Olympic Park only.
- T2 Leppington Line trains continue to run between Leppington and the City via Granville.
- Change trains at Granville to continue your journey.
T7 Olympic Park Line
Monday 2 October
- Buses replace trains between Olympic Park and Lidcombe.
Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 October
- Buses replace trains between Olympic Park and Lidcombe.
T8 Airport & South Line
Monday 2 to Thursday 5 October
- Some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern.
Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 October
- Trackwork on the T4 Illawarra and South Coast lines may affect how you travel.
Hunter Line
Wednesday 4 to Friday 6 October
- 4am Wednesday to 10.15pm Friday, buses replace trains between Scone and Maitland.
- Some trains run to a changed timetable.
- Wednesday and Thursday, nightly from 7.20pm to 4.30am, buses replace all trains between Scone, Dungog and Newcastle Interchange.
- Buses also replace the 18:01 Maitland to Dungog service.
South Coast Line
Monday 2 October
- Buses replace trains between Port Kembla and Wollongong.
- Buses towards Wollongong may leave stations up to 15 minutes earlier than the normal train timetable.
Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 October
- Buses replace trains between Dapto and Central, and between Port Kembla and Wollongong.
- South Coast Line trackwork buses do not stop at Wolli Creek.
Southern Highlands Line
Saturday 7 October
- From 10am to 4pm, buses replace trains between Campbelltown and Moss Vale.
