Major works this winter
Works continue on some of the state’s biggest transport projects. Critical maintenance works will also take place on our rail, tram and road networks to ensure services continue to run reliably.
There’ll be disruptions to the public transport and road networks while these works take place. Be sure to plan ahead and allow extra time or take an alternative route if possible.
Metro Trains
Craigieburn Lines
- Buses will replace train services between Flagstaff and Essendon stations from 8.30pm to last service each night, Tuesday 20 June to Thursday 22 June.
- Buses will replace train services between Flagstaff and Essendon stations from 8.30pm Friday 23 June to 4am Sunday 25 June.
- Buses replace train services between Flagstaff and Essendon stations from 8.30pm to last service each night from Sunday 25 June to Sunday 9 July.
Cranbourne and Pakenham Lines
- Cranbourne and Pakenham line trains run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop from 9pm to last service on Thursday 15 June.
- Buses replace Cranbourne and Pakenham line trains between Richmond (Burnley) and Westall from 9pm Friday 16 June to last service Sunday 18 June.
- Cranbourne and Pakenham line trains run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop from 9pm to last service each night from Monday 19 June to Wednesday 21 June.
Frankston Line
- Express trains along the Frankston Line will be replaced with trains stopping all stations, from Monday 12 December 2022 to mid-2023.
- Buses replace Frankston Line trains between Caulfield and Moorabbin stations from first service Thursday 15 June to 8.30pm Friday 16 June.
- Buses replace trains between Flinders Street (Arts Centre) and Moorabbin from 8.30pm Friday 16 June to 9pm Sunday 18 June.
- Buses replace trains between Flinders Street (Arts Centre) and Frankston from 9pm to last service on Sunday 18 June.
- Buses replace trains between Flinders Street (Arts Centre) and Moorabbin from first service to 9pm each day from Monday 19 June to Thursday 22 June.
- Buses replace trains between Flinders Street (Arts Centre) and Frankston from 9pm to last service each night from Monday 19 June to Wednesday 21 June.
- Buses replace trains between Flinders Street (Arts Centre) and Mordialloc from 9pm Thursday 22 June to 9pm Friday 23 June.
- Buses replace trains between Flinders Street (Arts Centre) and Frankston from 9pm Friday 23 June to last service Sunday 25 June.
Hurstbridge and Mernda Lines
- Hurstbridge and Mernda line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop from 9pm to last service each night, Wednesday 14 June to Thursday 15 June.
- Hurstbridge and Mernda line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop from 9pm Friday 16 June to last service Sunday 18 June.
- Hurstbridge and Mernda line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop from 9pm to last service each night from Monday 19 June to Wednesday 21 June.
Pakenham Line
- Buses replace trains on the Pakenham Line between Berwick and Pakenham from Thursday 8 June to last service Wednesday 21 June.
- Buses replace trains on the Pakenham Line between Dandenong and Pakenham from 9pm to last service each night, Tuesday 20 June and Wednesday 21 June.
Sandringham Line
- Buses replace trains between Flinders Street (Arts Centre) and Elsternwick stations from 8.30pm Friday 16 June to 3am Saturday 17 June.
- Buses replace trains between Flinders Street (Arts Centre) and Elsternwick stations from 8.30pm to last service Sunday 18 June.
Stony Point Line
- From Monday 12 December 2022 to mid-2023, there will be minor connection wait time increases between the Frankston and Stony Point lines.
- Buses replace trains on the Stony Point Line between Frankston and Stony Point from 8.30pm Friday 2 June to early August.
Sunbury Line
- Buses replace trains between Flagstaff and Sunshine from 8pm to last service each night, Tuesday 20 June to Thursday 22 June.
- Buses replace trains between Flagstaff and Sunshine from 8pm Friday 23 June to 8.30pm Saturday 24 June.
- Buses replace trains between Flagstaff and Watergardens from 8.30pm to Saturday 24 June to 5.30am Sunday 25 June.
- Buses replace trains between Flagstaff and Sunshine from 5.30am Sunday 25 June to 8.30pm Sunday 25 June.
- Buses replace trains between Flagstaff and Watergardens from 8.30pm to last service Sunday 25 June.
Upfield Line
- Buses replace Upfield line trains between Flagstaff and Coburg from 8.30pm to last service each night, Tuesday 20 June to Thursday 22 June.
- Buses replace Upfield line trains between Flagstaff and Coburg from 8.30pm Friday 23 June to 4am Sunday 25 June.
- Buses replace Upfield line trains between Flagstaff and Coburg from 8.30pm to last service each night, Sunday 25 June to Thursday 29 June.
Werribee and Williamstown Lines
- Buses replace trains between Flagstaff, Newport, and Williamstown from 8.30pm to last service each night, Tuesday 20 June to Thursday 22 June.
- Buses replace trains between Flagstaff, Newport, and Williamstown from 8.30pm Friday 23 June to last service Sunday 9 July.
Yarra Trams
Routes 19, 57 and 59
- Route 19, 57 and 59 trams will be affected by service changes from 8pm to last tram on select dates between Monday 27 February to Thursday 21 September.
Route 67
- Buses replace trams on Route 67 between Stop 53 Glenhuntly Tram Depot and Carnegie terminus from 9pm Friday 5 May to mid-July.
Route 72
- Route 72 trams will experience service changes and stop closures from first tram Monday 19 June to last tram Wednesday 21 June.
V/Line
Ararat, Ballarat and Maryborough Lines
- Coaches replace evening trains on the Ballarat Line for the entire journey from Friday 16 June and Saturday 17 June.
- Coaches replace trains on the Ballarat, Ararat and Maryborough lines from the evening of Friday 23 June to Sunday 25 June.
- Coaches replace evening trains on the Ballarat Line for the entire journey from Sunday 25 June to Thursday 29 June.
Bairnsdale and Traralgon Lines
- Coaches replace Traralgon and Bairnsdale line trains for the entire journey from the evening of Friday 2 June to last service Sunday 25 June.
Geelong and Warrnambool Lines
- Coaches replace evening trains on the Geelong Line from Sunday 11 June to Tuesday 13 June and on Friday 16 June and Saturday 17 June.
- Geelong Line trains will experience service changes from the evening of Friday 23 June to last service Sunday 25 June.
- Coaches replace trains on the Warrnambool Line for part of the journey on Saturday 24 June and Sunday 25 June.
Seymour and Shepparton Lines
- Coaches replace some Seymour Line trains from Tuesday 20 June to Sunday 9 July.
- Coaches replace Shepparton Line trains for the entire journey on Saturday 24 June.
