Major works this autumn
Works continue on some of the state’s biggest transport projects. Critical maintenance works will also take place on our rail, tram and road networks to ensure services continue to run reliably.
There’ll be disruptions to the public transport and road networks while these works take place. Be sure to plan ahead and allow extra time or take an alternative route if possible.
Metro Trains
Cranbourne, Frankston and Pakenham Lines
- Buses replace Cranbourne, Frankston and Pakenham trains between South Yarra and Caulfield from 1.30am Saturday 27 May to 4am Sunday 28 May.
Cranbourne and Pakenham Lines
- Buses replace Cranbourne and Pakenham line trains between Parliament, Caulfield and Westall from first service to 8.30pm on Thursday 25 May.
- Buses replace Cranbourne and Pakenham line trains between Caulfield and Westall from 9pm to last service on Thursday 25 May.
- Cranbourne and Pakenham line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, from 10pm to last service on Thursday 25 May.
- Buses replace trains between Caulfield, Dandenong and Pakenham from 9pm Friday 26 May to last service Sunday 28 May.
- Cranbourne and Pakenham line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, from first service until last service on Saturday 27 May.
- Cranbourne and Pakenham line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, from 9pm until last service each night, Sunday 28 May to Thursday 1 June.
- Buses replace trains between Caulfield, Dandenong and Pakenham from 9pm to last service each night from Monday 29 May to Wednesday 31 May.
Frankston Line
- Express trains along the Frankston Line will be replaced with trains stopping all stations, from Monday 12 December 2022 to mid-2023.
- Frankston line trains terminate and originate at Caulfield from 1.30am to 2.30am, 8am to 9.30am, and 6pm to 8pm on Saturday 27 May.
- Buses replace Frankston Line trains between Moorabbin and Frankston stations from 12.15am Saturday 27 May to last service Sunday 28 May.
- Frankston line trains terminate and originate at Caulfield from from 1.30am to 3.30am on Sunday 28 May.
- Buses replace Frankston Line trains between Caulfield and Moorabbin stations from 8.30pm to last service on Monday 29 May.
- Buses replace Frankston Line trains between Caulfield and Moorabbin stations from 8.30pm Friday 2 June to early August.
- Bus replacements extend to between Caulfield and Mordialloc from 8.30pm Friday 2 June to 3am Saturday 3 June.
- Bus replacements extend to between Caulfield and Mordialloc from 8.30pm Saturday 3 June to 3am Sunday 4 June.
Hurstbridge and Mernda Lines
- Hurstbridge and Mernda line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, from 10pm to last service on Thursday 25 May.
- Hurstbridge and Mernda line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, from 9pm until last service each night, Sunday 28 May to Thursday 1 June.
Pakenham Line
- Buses replace trains on the Pakenham Line between Dandenong and Pakenham from 9.30pm Thursday 25 May to last service Tuesday 30 May.
Sandringham Line
- Buses replace trains between Parliament/South Yarra and Sandringham stations from 8.15pm Monday 29 May to last service Sunday 4 June.
Stony Point Line
- From Monday 12 December 2022 to mid-2023, there will be minor connection wait time increases between the Frankston and Stony Point lines.
- Buses replace trains on the Stony Point Line between Frankston and Stony Point from 12.15am Saturday 27 May to last service Sunday 28 May.
- Buses replace trains on the Stony Point Line between Frankston and Stony Point from 8.30pm Friday 2 June to early August.
Sunbury Line
- Buses replace trains between North Melbourne and Sunshine from 8.30pm Thursday 25 May to 4.30am Sunday 28 May.
- Buses replace trains between North Melbourne and Sunshine from 8.30pm to last service each night, Sunday 28 May to Thursday 1 June.
Werribee and Williamstown Line
- Buses replace trains between North Melbourne, Newport and Williamstown from 8.30pm to last service on Thursday 25 May.
Yarra Trams
Routes 12
- Route 12 trams will experience temporary service changes from first to last tram on Sunday 28 May.
Routes 12, 30 and 35
- Route 12, 30 and 35 trams will experience service changes on select dates from Sunday 7 May to Sunday 28 May.
Routes 19, 57 and 59
- Route 19, 57 and 59 trams will be affected by service changes from 8pm to last tram on select dates between Monday 27 February to Thursday 21 September.
Route 30 and 35
- Route 30 and 35 trams will experience service changes from first tram Tuesday 23 May to last tram Tuesday 6 June.
Route 67
- Buses replace trams on Route 67 between Stop 53 Glenhuntly Tram Depot and Carnegie terminus from 9pm Friday 5 May to mid-July.
Route 72
- Route 72 trams will experience service changes on weekdays from 7am to 9.30am and from 3.30pm to 7pm, from Tuesday 11 April to Wednesday 31 May.
V/Line
Ararat, Ballarat and Maryborough Lines
- Coaches replace Ararat, Ballarat, and Maryborough line trains between Bacchus Marsh and Ballarat/Wendouree, Ararat and Maryborough from Wednesday 17 May to Sunday 4 June.
Bairnsdale and Traralgon Lines
- Coaches replace some Traralgon and Bairnsdale line trains for all or part of the journey at various times from Wednesday 17 May to Wednesday 31 May.
- Coaches replace Traralgon and Bairnsdale line trains for the entire journey from the evening of Friday 2 June to last service Sunday 25 June.
Seymour Line
- Coaches replace some evening trains on the Seymour line for the entire journey from Sunday 4 June to Wednesday 7 June.
