Yom Kippur Transit Updates

Dear riders,

We have collected for you several public transit changes that will take place during Yom Kippur (September 24th-September 25th). Many agencies will provide shortened and alternative service for the Eve of Yom Kippur and the Night of Yom Kippur. Main bus agencies, rail, and light rail service will have no service on Yom Kippur. Moovit is updated. We suggest using our trip planner to plan your trip in advance. Just set your desired arrival or departure time.

🚉 Changes in Israel Railways service

Yom Kippur Eve, Sunday, 24.09.23:

Trains will operate according to a designated schedule, including train reinforcement and a proactive break n the electrification project on the eve of the holiday, to allow for optimal train traffic leading up to the holiday.

The passenger trains will operate between 06:00-13:00 in an enhanced format, based on Friday schedules, with an additional high-frequency train service of two trains every hour (instead of one train every hour) on the Haifa-Tel Aviv line. Additionally, train services will be active at the stations of Be’er Sheva, Ofakim, Netivot, Sderot, and Dimona.

Yom Kippur, Monday, 25.09.23:

As in every year, trains will not operate on the evening after Yom Kippur.

Train traffic will resume on Tuesday, 26.09.23.


🚌 Changes in Bus service

👉 On Yom Kippur eve, Sunday, September 24th, bus service will gradually end between 14:00-15:00.

👉 On Yom Kippur, Monday, September 25th, bus services will gradually resume starting at approximately 20:00.


🚋 Changes in Light Rail service in Jerusalem

On the occasion of Yom Kippur, Cfir are increasing the frequency of the light rail service in order to ease the expected congestion in the city.

👉 On Saturday night before Yom Kippur, September 23rd, the Light Rail in Jerusalem will operate after midnight until approximately 02:30.

👉 On Yom Kippur Eve, Sunday, September 24th, Light Rail service will end at approximately 14:00.

👉 On Yom Kippur, Monday, September 25th, Light Rail service will gradually resume starting at approximately 20:30.


🚌 Nateev Express 

Eshkol HaGalil lines activity:

👉 On Yom Kippur Eve, September 24th, a reduced service mode will operate (similar to Friday), and Night Line 471 will not operate.

👉 On Yom Kippur, September 25th, the lines will operate in a modified Saturday night mode, an hour after the end of Yom Kippur.

Night Line 471 will not be in service, and the alternative line 983 will operate instead.

lines 900 will operate in a special format.

* Shfar’am lines 1,2,3 and Tamra lines 17,18 will be operated in a regular format.


🚌 Superbus

👉 On  Yom Kippur Eve, September 24th, the lines will operate in a Friday format, but with a shortened schedule.

👉 On Yom Kippur, September 25th, the lines will operate in a Saturday format, with adjustments at the beginning of service.

Night lines in the valleys 190, 191, 193 will not be operate.


🚌 G. B. Tours

👉 On Yom Kippur Eve, September 24th, the village lines (24, 25, 26, 27, 288) will operate in regular Sunday format. All other company’s lines will operate in a Friday format. Line 311 to Zisso Yafo will make a last trip at 15:15 and return at 16:40.

👉 On Yom Kippur, September 25th, the village lines (24, 25, 26, 27, 288) will operate in regular Monday format. All other lines will not operate and will return to full operation on Tuesday morning.


🚌 Electra Afikim

👉 The activity of lines 479 (Immanuel), 455 (Beitar Illit), 474, 454 (Beit Shemesh), 350, 351, 359 (Ashdod-Bnei Brak) will be significantly increased on Yom Kippur Eve, September 24th, and also after the evening after Yom Kippur, September 25th.

👉 On the evening after Yom Kippur, September 25th, a special system will be in operation for lines 350, 351, 359 operating between Ashdod and Bnei Brak:

A departure center will be activated from Chason Ish/HaRav Landau (stop 23053), all trips will start and end at the Chason Ish/HaRav Landau stop.

A rapid line 351 will operate between Bnei Brak and Ashdod, and will travel via Highway 4, Geha Interchange, Jabotinsky, Ben Gurion, without entering Bnei Brak!

Line 349 will not operate during this time. The service lines 356, 401, 421, 423, 48, 429 will be significantly increased.
