π Northern & TransPennine Express Strike Action (Friday 10 & Saturday 11 July)
Due to active industrial dispute measures by TSSA union members, regional rail operators will run on an extremely restricted emergency framework with drastically reduced operational hours.
Northern Rail & TransPennine Express: Severe service reductions and cancellations will occur across all Yorkshire routes on Friday and Saturday. Core commuter lines linking Leeds Station, Sheffield Midland, and Bradford Interchange / Forster Square will see heavily reduced frequencies.
Early Evening Shutdowns: Many final train services will depart major city hubs as early as 17:00 on Friday, with networks shutting down completely by 19:00.
Complete Route Suspensions: Multiple secondary lines and commuter branches across West and South Yorkshire will have no rail service whatsoever on Friday and Saturday.
π‘οΈ Heatwave Infrastructure Speed Restrictions & Delays
Due to high summer temperatures across the region, Network Rail has implemented precautionary speed limits across Yorkshire’s rail network to protect overhead lines and mitigate the risk of track buckling.
Rail Delays: Commuters on all active TransPennine, Northern, and LNER lines should expect rolling delays of 15β30 minutes on top of the reduced strike timetables.
Supertram (Sheffield): The tram network is operating, but high ambient temperatures may impact overhead line reliability on exposed lines. Frequencies are being monitored closely.
Bus Networks (First, Arriva, Stagecoach): Local bus networks across Leeds, Sheffield, and Bradford are fully operational but are experiencing localized delays due to heavy passenger displacement from the rail network.
