Beginning Sunday, December 15, the first phase of Brighter Blue, Big Blue Bus’s 5-year service improvement plan will take effect! Riders can enjoy enhanced frequency on several routes during peak hours to reduce overcrowding and improve comfort. To better align with the growing demands of riders, BBB is extending service on select routes to provide trips earlier in the morning and later in the evening. Additionally, Route 14 will now serve the Culver City Transit Center, making connections to regional transit partners more convenient and accessible.
Summary:
- Route 7 Express and Route 42 will be discontinued.
- Route 14 – Service now begins/ends in Culver City; service to Inglewood is discontinued. Buses now serve the Culver City Transit Center in both directions
- Route 17 – Increased frequency to every 15 minutes on weekdays and added service hours.
- Routes 7 and Route 9 – Minor service adjustments.
Route 7 – Pico BLVD
New Stop:
- WB Pico Blvd. at Stanley Ave. (before the intersection)
Discontinued Stop:
- WB Pico Blvd. at Curson Ave. (after the intersection)
Route 7 Express – Pico BLVD Express
Service Discontinued.
- Please use Route 7 or Rapid 7 for service between Downtown Santa Monica and the Wilshire/Western D Line Station in Koreatown.
Route 9 – Pacific Palisades
Schedule Changes:
- Weekdays:
- Southbound Express trips will operate at 1:22 p.m. and 1:25 p.m. to align with final/minimum day schedules at Palisades High School.
Route 14 – Bundy DR & Cantilena Ave
Route Change:
- Service now begins/ends in Culver City; service to Inglewood is discontinued. Buses now serve the Culver City Transit Center in both directions.

- SB Slauson Ave. at Sepulveda Blvd. (after the intersection)
- NB Slauson Ave. at Sepulveda Blvd. (after the intersection)

Schedule Changes:
- Weekday service has been increased to every 15 minutes and operating hours have been extended to approximately 10:20 p.m.
Route 42 – SMC – 17th St Station – Montana Ave (Counterclockwise)
Service Discontinued.
- Please use Route 41 instead.
