It’s that time of year again for turkey, pumpkin pie, and family gatherings! And of course, the Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade! Stay head of the curve with these tips and transit updates for Thanksgiving travels and for the Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade:
Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade:
- The 90th annual Chicago Thanksgiving Parade will take place Thursday, Nov. 28, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. CT.
- The procession will travel north on a historic stretch of Chicago’s Street from Ida B. Wells Drive to Randolph Street. Make sure to get there early to get a spot.
- Check Moovit for the best routes from your area.
Transit Updates for CTA:
- Getting to the airport – CTA’s L is the easiest & cheapest way to travel to and from Chicago O’Hare and Midway airports. Take the Blue Line for Chicago O’Hare or the Orange Line for Midway.
- CTA will operating Sunday/Holiday service for Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 28th, and will return to normal service on Friday, Nov. 29th.
- CTA’s holiday trains & buses will start running Nov. 29th till Dec. 23. Check CTA’s website for further information.
Transit Updates for Metra:
- On Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, and Black Friday, Nov. 29, Metra is offering special one-day passes that allow unlimited travel for only $7. The special tickets can be purchased onboard, at Metra’s vending machines.
- Metra will run Sunday service on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day.
