Chicago Transit Authority Service Alert: Weekday Service Adjustments (March 11-15)

    Important service adjustments will affect the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) system during the week of March 11th to 15th. Plan trips accordingly.

    Blue Line:

    March 11th – 14th (Monday – Thursday): Nightly Service Adjustments (10 PM – 4 AM)

    • Boarding Change and Delays Between Damen and Clark/Lake Stations:
      • Passengers boarding O’Hare-bound trains at Division, Chicago, and Grand stations will use the platform designated for the opposite direction.
      • Trains in both directions will share a single track between Damen and Clark/Lake stations, causing minor delays.
      • Expect longer wait times and plan extra travel time.
    • Reason: Track maintenance is necessary for safe Blue Line train operation.

    Bus Routes:

    Temporary Reroutes:

    • March 11th (Monday): 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM (or completion):

      • Westbound #7 Harrison, #126 Jackson: Detour via Adams, Wacker, and Van Buren to resume normal routes on Clinton.
      • Southbound #151 Sheridan, #156 LaSalle: Detour via Adams, Wacker, Van Buren, Jefferson, Jackson, and Clinton to end trips at Union Station Transit Center.
      • Reason: Adams Street Bridge maintenance over the Chicago River.
      • Eastbound #7, #126 and northbound #151, #156 buses are not affected.
    • March 4th (Monday) – March 15th (Friday): 9 AM – 4 PM (or completion):

      • Northbound #9 Ashland, #X9 Ashland Express: Detour via Ashland, Fulton, Ogden, and Grand to resume normal routes on Ashland.
      • Reason: Railroad construction on Ashland between Fulton and Carroll.
      • Southbound #9 and #X9 buses are not affected.
    • Effective March 5th (Tuesday):

      • Westbound #29 State, #65 Grand, #120 Ogilvie/Streeterville Express, and #121 Union/Streeterville Express: Service restored to the northeast corner of Grand and St. Clair.
      • Reason: Completion of construction and related sidewalk closures.
    • March 12th (Tuesday): 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM (or completion):

      • Eastbound #60, #124, #157: Detour via Jefferson, Washington, and Washington to Canal to resume normal routes on Washington.
      • Eastbound #125: Detour via Jefferson and Washington to resume normal route on Canal.
      • Reason: Monroe Street Bridge maintenance over the Chicago River.
      • Westbound #60, #124, #125, and #157 buses are not affected.
    • March 13th (Wednesday): 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM (or completion):

      • #71 South Shore/71st: Operate in both directions via Torrence, 100th, and Commercial.
      • Reason: Utility maintenance on Commercial at 102nd.
    • Effective March 5th (Tuesday) – Until Further Notice:

      • Southbound #85 Central: Detour via Milwaukee, Jefferson Park North Bus Terminal, Milwaukee, and Higgins to Gale, then resume normal route on Higgins. Northbound operates via Higgins, Milwaukee, Jefferson Park North Bus Terminal, then resumes normal route on Milwaukee.
      • Eastbound #88 Higgins: Operates via Higgins and Milwaukee to end trips at Jefferson Park South Bus Terminal. Westbound begins trips at Jefferson Park South Bus Terminal, operates via Milwaukee and Higgins to Gale, then resumes normal route on Higgins.
      • Reason: Construction on Gale between Milwaukee and Higgins.
      • Expect longer wait times and allow extra travel time.
