The City-Bay will return to the streets of Adelaide, with thousands of participants taking part in the event on Sunday 17 September 2023.
City-Bay participants can access FREE travel on trams and dedicated bus shuttles from 5:00 am to 2:00 pm by showing their official race number bib.
Service disruptions will be in place with roads surrounding Glenelg to the Adelaide CBD closed for part of the day with dedicated services operating during this time.
Free Travel
City to Bay participants can access FREE travel on trams and dedicated bus shuttles from 5:00 am to 2:00 pm on Sunday 17 September.
Participants will need to present their race bib to Adelaide Metro public transport drivers or customer service staff when boarding the dedicated City-Bay bus and regular tram services.
City-Bay bus shuttle
Dedicated City-Bay bus shuttles will operate before, during and after the event to accommodate participants.
Half marathon bus shuttle from the city – CB1:
- Departs: Stop W1 North Terrace at 5:15 am
- Arrives: Wigley Reserve at 5:45 am
Pre-race Wigley Reserve to City to Wigley Reserve bus shuttle – CB1:
Departs: Temporary Stop Wigley Reserve.
- Pre-event: Shuttles operate between 5:30 am to 8:00 am, departing as required for participants to and from the city. The first shuttle departs at 5:30 am.
- Pre-event timetabled departures from Wigley Reserve: 6:00 am, 6:15 am, 6:30 am and 8:00 am.
- 3km drop off location: Stop 15 Anzac Highway or Stop 16 Anzac Highway.
- 6km drop off location: Temporary Stop Mortimer Street or Temporary Stop Mooringe Avenue.
- 12km drop off location: Stop D North Terrace (as close as possible).
Post-race Wigley Reserve to City – CB1:
Departs: Temporary Stop Wigley Reserve
- Post-event: Shuttles operate between 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, departing as required for participants to the city.
- 3km drop off location: Stop 15 Anzac Highway or Stop 16 Anzac Highway.
- 6km drop off location: Temporary Stop Mortimer Street or Temporary Stop Mooringe Avenue.
- 12km drop off location: Stop D North Terrace (as close as possible).
Maxwell Terrace to North Terrace City bus shuttle – CB2:
Departs: Temporary Stop Maxwell Terrace.
- Pre-event: Shuttles operate between 6:00 am to 8:00 am, departing as required for participants to and from the city.
- Drop off location: Stop D North Terrace (as close as possible).
South Terrace/Peacock Road to North Terrace bus shuttle – TRMSUB:
Departs: Temporary Stop Peacock Road.
- Pre-event: Shuttles operate between 7:30 am to 11:00 am, until the South Terrace road closure is lifted.
- Drop off location: Temporary Stop Kintore Avenue, adjacent the State Library.
Tram services
Pre-event services will operate between a 7 to 10 minute frequency with the first service departing from Stop 15 Brighton Road at 5:23 am.
Post-event services will depart at a high frequency between 10:00 am until approximately 1:00 pm.
Tram services operating from Stop 15 Brighton Road:
- To Entertainment Centre between 5:23 am to approximately 7:30 am.
- To South Terrace between approximately 7:30 am to 11:00 am.
- No services will operate to Festival Plaza until after 11:00 am.
- No services will operate to Botanic Gardens until after 11:00 am.
Tram services will operate between Adelaide Railway Station to Entertainment Centre from approximately 7:30 am to 11:00 am.
First tram resumes operating from Moseley Square at 2:20pm
Bus service impacts
As sections of roads will be closed and re-opened at various times during the morning, the following detours and other arrangements for bus services will be in place.
A temporary terminus will be located on the southern side of Anzac Highway opposite Wigley Reserve Glenelg, and on both sides of High Street just east of Moseley Street Glenelg, from first service to approximately 2:00 pm.
