Beginning on Friday, November 6, all Massachusetts residents are advised to stay home from 10 PM – 5 AM. Please adjust your travel plans accordingly.
You may be required to quarantine for 14 days or show proof of a negative COVID-19 result if you’re traveling to Massachusetts from out of state.

All riders and employees are required to wear face coverings while riding the T.
Coronavirus Updates 2020
The following changes to service and operations have been made to protect the health and safety of essential workers who rely on public transit, as well as our frontline staff.
- All riders and employees are required to wear face coverings while riding the T. Not doing so may result in a fine issued by the Transit Police.
- Service levels prioritize certain routes to meet ridership demand, avoid crowding on vehicles, and to allow for physical distancing in keeping with health and safety protocol guidance.
- Shared trips on The RIDE have been eliminated. RIDE customers can still bring a personal care attendant or guest on their trip.
- The CharlieCard Store is now open with limited hours.
- Standard fare collection processes have resumed on buses and trolleys, and The RIDE.
- Bus operators have the option—with approval from the Control Center—to bypass a stop if they feel the bus is becoming too crowded to safely accommodate any more riders.
MBTA Bus and Silver Line:
- Effective August 30, most bus routes will run on a regular schedule, similar to (or better than) pre-COVID service.
- These routes run with reduced service: 4, 18, 43, 52, 55, 79, 91, 92, 99, 216, 236, 245, 354, 426, CT2, SL1, and SL2.
- These routes are suspended: 62, 76, 84, 170, 325, 326, 351, 352, 428, 434, 451, 456, 502, 503, and 505.
MBTA Subway:
- Regular weekday service on all lines.
- Note that scheduled shuttles are running on the Green Line E branch between Lechmere – North Station through Spring 2021.
MBTA Commuter Rail:
- Modified weekday service on all lines.
- For riders on the Providence/Stoughton Line and Franklin Line: In accordance with the travel order in effect, passengers from Rhode Island coming to Massachusetts can travel without restriction for their work and school activities only. Passengers from Rhode Island not traveling for work or school must quarantine for 14 days or show proof of a negative COVID-19 test.
MBTA Ferry:
- Reduced weekday service for Hingham/Hull.
- Regular weekday service for Charlestown.
MBTA The Ride:
- All trips must be booked 1 – 3 days in advance. Previously booked trips are not affected by this change.
- The RIDE will make every effort to eliminate transfer trips to reduce customer interaction with multiple drivers. Shared trips have been eliminated. RIDE customers can still bring a personal care attendant or guest on their trip.
- To cancel or reschedule your trip, call The Ride Access Center (TRAC).
- The RIDE Eligibility Center (TREC) is closed until further notice. Call 617-337-2727 or email trec@paratransit.org for eligibility assistance.

Weekend Service
Bus and Silver Line:
- Regular weekend service on most routes.
- Routes with increased weekend service: 1, 8, 15, 16, 22, 23, 57, 66, 104, 109, 111, 212, 226, 236, 238, and 240
- Routes with decreased weekend service: 10, 11, 44, 45, 89, 91, 94, 95, 96, 99, 101, 211, 216, 504, and 553.
Subway:
Southeastern Regional Transit Authority (SRTA) Updates
- Weekday service including early morning and night service has been restored.
- SRTA still requires face masks for passengers

MetroWest Regional Transit Authority (MWRTA) Updates
- In addition to MWRTA’s regularly scheduled weekly bus cleaning, MWRTA has been disinfecting all vehicles every night with a high quality disinfectant recommended by the Center for Disease Control (CDC).
- MWRTA has blocked off the two seats directly behind the drivers area, and has reduced the capacity of all Fixed Route buses from 16 passengers to 7 to ensure that all passengers are sitting a proper distance from one another.
- Due to significantly low ridership, MWRTA will suspend service of the Framingham Commuter Shuttle, effective Thursday, October 1, 2020. The last day of service on the FCS will be Wednesday, September 30, 2020.

Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) Updates
- RIPTA is asking passengers to wear cloth face masks on board
Due to the current COVID-19 public health crisis, many RIPTA Offices and transit centers are closed.
- To help ensure that there is enough room for proper social distancing, No more than 20 passengers will be allowed on any fixed-route bus.

Lowell Regional Transit Authority (LRTA) Updates
- Updated Full Service for Monday through Saturday will resume on Monday August 31, 2020
Sunday Service Pilot Program will resume on Sunday September 13, 2020 - See the agency website for more info.
Merrimack Valley Regional Transit Authority (MVRTA) Updates
- Regular service for both fixed routes and EZ Trans resumed on Sunday, September 06, 2020
- Starting Monday, September 28, 2020 the Merrimack Valley Regional Transit Authority will start collecting fares again.
***Routes 34, 37 & 85 remain free** - In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, all passengers are REQUIRED to wear a nose and mouth covering on-board ALL MVRTA VEHICLES AND WAITING AREAS
