MBTA Rail and Subway Planned Service Change

    Subway

    Red Line

    • Shuttle buses replace Red Line service between JFK/UMass and Broadway the weekends of Feb 26 – 27 & Mar 5 – 6, from start to end of service.

      This diversion is in place due to track work, and the Dorchester Ave Bridge replacement project. All shuttle buses are accessible to customers with disabilities, if you need assistance please see station personnel.

    Mattapan Trolley

    • Shuttle buses replace Mattapan Trolley service on the weekends of Mar 19 – 20 & 26 – 27 from start to end of service for vegetation removal.

    Orange Line

    • Shuttle buses replace Orange Line service between Sullivan Square and State the weekend of Feb. 19 – 20. All trains between State and Chinatown will single track on the northbound side.

      Customers will use the northbound (Oak Grove) platform for Orange Line service at State, Downtown Crossing, and Chinatown due to single track operation through these stations.

    • Shuttle buses replace Green Line service between North Station and Government Center on the weekend of Feb. 19 – 20. B and D trains will originate/terminate at Park St, C and E trains will originate/terminate at Government Center.

      This diversion is in place to allow for the demolition of the Government Center Garage by Haymarket station. All shuttle buses are accessible to customers with disabilities, see station personnel if you need assistance. Please allow extra time for your commute.

    Green Line E

    Rail

    Fitchburg Line

    • On weekends through Winter 2022, buses will replace train service between Littleton & Wachusett to allow for PTC work. More info on the new schedules in effect 10/11. Passengers may experience delays up to 15 minutes.
      All bus shuttles will be free and ADA accessible, but bikes will not be allowed on board buses.

    • Contrary to previous communication, regular service will operate on the Fitchburg Line Monday, Feb 7. Buses will now replace train service between Wachusett & Littleton Monday, Feb 14 through Friday, Feb 18 to allow for major PTC implementation progress.   MBTA.com/PTC
      Normal weekday train service is expected to resume on Monday, February 21st.

    Greenbush Line

    • Effective on Monday, February 7th, bikes are allowed onboard any Middleborough, Kingston, or Greenbush Line train at all times in both directions. Bikes may be stored in any available space, but be mindful of keeping ADA seats free & accessible.   MBTA.com/bikes

    Kingston Line

    Middleborough/Lakeville Line

    Newburyport/Rockport Line

    • March 5 through May 1, Newburyport Line trains will be replaced by free buses between Newburyport & Beverly while the signal system is updated. Shuttle schedule will be available by Feb 18. Purchase no higher than a Zone 4 Monthly pass for March & April.
      All Shuttle buses are accessible. Bikes not be allowed onboard the shuttle buses.

    • Effective every weekend starting July 3rd, a bus shuttle now provides service from Gloucester to Rockport with a departure every two hours from 7:34 am until 9:34 pm. From Rockport to Gloucester, a departure every two hours between 5:50 am until 9:50 pm.
