June 8, 2026

Your Ultimate Transit Guide to the Global Matches, Fan Zones, and Daily Commuting from June 8 to July 12, 2026

The world’s biggest soccer tournament is coming to the Boston area, bringing hundreds of thousands of visitors and significant adjustments to public transit. Greater Boston will proudly host seven major matches this summer at the stadium in Foxboro on June 13, June 16, June 19, June 23, June 26, June 29, and July 9, 2026. Whether you have a ticket to one of these specific match days, are heading to a local fan celebration, or just trying to get to work, public transportation will look very different.

Because transit schedules are highly dynamic—with planned service overhauls, match-day surge pricing, and live, real-time disruptions based on traffic—you can rely on Moovit for up-to-the-minute trip planning. Moovit tracks everything in real-time to ensure you get where you need to go smoothly.

🛑 Choose Your Journey Below:

⚽ 1. I Am Attending a Match at the Stadium

All matches are being held at the stadium in Foxboro (referred to during the tournament as Boston Stadium). Because parking is extremely limited, the MBTA is deploying intensive mass transit options, but they require advance planning.

  • Special Tournament Trains: The MBTA is operating up to 14 special, direct trains from Boston’s South Station directly to the stadium in Foxboro on match days.
    • Note: Tickets for these special trains are $80 round-trip and must be purchased in advance.
  • Late-Night Extensions: * For the late 9:00 PM match on Saturday, June 13, all subway lines (Red, Orange, Blue, Green) and select bus routes will run until 4:00 AM Sunday.
    • For weekday matches, all subway lines and select bus routes will extend service until 2:00 AM following the match.
  • ⚠️ Crucial Warning: Regular Franklin/Foxboro line Commuter Rail service will not stop at Foxboro on match days. You must use the dedicated tournament trains or alternative transit.

🎉 2. I Am Heading to Fan Events & Watch Parties

Official fan zones, watch parties, and public festivals are popping up across downtown Boston, the Seaport District, and city parks throughout June and July.

  • 🔍 Find Your Celebration Instantly: Don’t waste time typing in specific park or venue names. Simply search the term “Fan Zone” in the Moovit app to instantly pull up the quickest transit routes to all active event sites in your area.
  • 📍 Look for the Icons: When exploring the map in Moovit, keep an eye out for specially marked event icons highlighting exactly where the biggest watch parties and tournament festivals are located.
  • Extended Bus & Subway Network: To accommodate crowds heading home after the final whistle, the MBTA is extending service on all subway lines and key bus routes (SL1, SL3, SL5, 1, 22, 39, 66, and 110) until 2:00 AM on weekday match nights, and 4:00 AM on Saturday, June 13.
  • Water Shuttles & Ferries: Boston Harbor ferries will operate on their normal schedules, offering a scenic way to bypass downtown street gridlock when traveling between the North End, Seaport, and East Boston fan zones..

💼 3. I Am Navigating the City

If you are a daily commuter or resident simply trying to get around Greater Boston, be aware that Commuter Rail service will be reduced across most lines from June 8 to July 12 to free up trains for tournament surges.

  • Peak Service Maintained: The MBTA is prioritizing traditional rush hours. Most peak-hour service (6:00 AM – 10:00 AM and 3:30 PM – 7:00 PM) will remain active.
  • Line-Specific Match-Day Reductions & Changes:
    • Fairmount Line: On match days, there will be no service to Readville.
    • Franklin/Foxboro Line: On match days, no service to Foxboro or between Readville and Windsor Gardens. Shuttle buses will run between Forge Park/495 and Walpole, connecting riders to the Providence Line at Canton Junction.
    • Stoughton Line: On weekday match days, shuttle buses will entirely replace train service between Canton Junction and Stoughton.
    • Fall River/New Bedford Line: Connecting trains to/from East Taunton will not operate. Only direct trains to South Station will run.
    • Needham Line: On the weekend of June 13–14, there will be no weekend train service. Local buses will connect riders to the Orange and Green lines.
  • 💰 Summer Savings Perks: To compensate for the disruptions, the MBTA is offering “Free Fridays” on the Commuter Rail throughout June, July, and August, as well as 50% off monthly Commuter Rail passes this summer!
