The Bee Network / Metrolink (Manchester): Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has issued a heatwave warning. Tram infrastructure, including overhead lines, is highly vulnerable to the heat today. Expect delays, minor frequency reductions, and slower journey times across all lines.
Northern Rail & TransPennine Express: Severe heat constraints have triggered cascading delays of 15β20 minutes and short-notice cancellations across major commuter arteries. Notable disruptions include late-running services on the Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Airport route and reduced coach capacities on several Manchester Piccadilly services.
Avanti West Coast / West Coast Main Line: Major speed limits are active on lines heading south out of Manchester Piccadilly and Liverpool Lime Street.
π Night-Time Closures (Liverpool Lime Street Area): Unrelated to the heat, major evening engineering works are starting tonight (June 22 to June 25). From 22:20 onwards, severe cuts will hit lines to Blackpool North, Wilmslow, and Preston. Frequent rail replacement buses will operate out of Liverpool Lime Street.
