Here are some top tips for navigating transit during the holiday:

Peak Travel times are:
- Wednesday, Nov. 27 (just before Thanksgiving)
- Saturday, Nov. 30 (post-feast travels)
- Sunday, Dec. 1 (heading home from holiday visits)
Many Agencies operate holiday, alternative, or no service on the following days:
- Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 28
- Day after Thanksgiving, Friday, Nov. 29

🚍Plan Ahead & Take Public Transit to Thanksgiving!

- Use Moovit to plan your trip in advance to check for best travel options.
- Traveling out of your metropolitan area? No worries, Moovit includes Intercity options like Amtrak, Flixbus, & Megabus.
- Traveling on Wednesday – consider traveling early or late to avoid the rush.
- Park & Ride – check park & ride options in your area to access hub stations and leave the car behind.

- Amtrak and other intercity services often require reservations during Thanksgiving. Book tickets as early as possible.

Thanksgiving Day Service by Agency
- Muni
- Thursday, Nov. 28: On Thanksgiving Day Holiday, Muni will operate on a Sunday schedule.
- Friday, Nov. 29: On Black Friday, Muni will operate on a weekday schedule to provide service for those visiting and shopping in the city.
- Thursday, Nov. 28: On Thanksgiving Day Holiday, Muni will operate on a Sunday schedule.
- BART
- BART will run a Sunday service schedule for Thanksgiving this year. This means on Thursday, November 28, 2024, BART hours will be 8am-midnight with all five lines running until 9pm and three lines running from 9pm-midnight.
- On Friday, November 29, BART will be running regular weekday service (5am-midnight).
- Airport parking can be a hassle and is always expensive, except at BART stations. BART offer inexpensive multi-day parking at many stations with easy online reservations. Purchase parking on the BART website.
- Traveling by plane for the holiday? It’s easy to ride BART to the airport. You can take the train directly to San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Oakland International Airport (OAK).
- SamTrans
- SamTrans will operate Sunday service on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th, and will return to regular service on Friday, November 29th.
- AC Transit
- AC Transit will operate Sunday service on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th, and will return to regular service on Friday, November 29th.
- Caltrain
- Caltrain will operate Weekend service on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th, and will run a modified schedule on Friday, November 29th.
- VTA
- VTA will operate a Sunday/Holiday schedule. If your route does not operate on Sundays, it will not be in service. In addition, Route 500 will operate extended early morning service beginning at 5:30 a.m., and late evening service will end at 2:00 a.m. to accommodate BART’s Saturday schedule on Thanksgiving Day. On Friday, November 29th, VTA will operate a modified weekday schedule. All bus routes and light rail lines will provide regular weekday service, with the exception of Express routes. VTA Express routes 101, 102, 103, and 104 will not operate on Friday, November 29.

- Thanksgiving Day, November 28th
- Ferry – No Service
- Bus – Holiday/ Weekend Service
- Day After Thanksgiving, November 29th
- Ferry & Bus – Holiday & Weekend Service
- Thanksgiving Day, November 28th
- Tri Delta Transit
- Tri Delta Transit will operate Weekend service on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th and on Friday, November 29th. Routes 380, 381, 388, 389, 391 and 395 will run.
- Monterey-Salinas Transit
- Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) will provide a holiday bus service schedule on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28, 2024.
- Marin Transit
- Marin Transit will operate Sunday service on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th, and on Friday, November 29th.
- LAVTA Wheels
- On Thanksgiving, November 28th, only routes 14, 15, 10R, and 30R operate, running a weekend schedule. Friday, November 29th, will operate weekend service.
- WestCat (Western Contra Costa)
- WestCat will operate Sunday service on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th, and will Saturday service on Friday, November 29th.
- Marin Airporter
- Marin Airporter will operate regular service on Thanksgiving Day.
- Capitol Corridor
- Capitol Corridor will operate weekend service on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th, and on Friday, November 29th.
- The following agencies will have no service on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 28th:
- County Connection
- Santa Cruz Metro (Friday, Nov. 29th – Weekend Service)
- SolTrans (Friday, Nov. 29th – No Service)
- Sonoma County Transit (Friday, Nov. 29th – Saturday Service)
- VINE Transit (Friday, Nov. 29th – Vine local routes (Routes A, B, C, D, E, F, and G, 10, and 11) operate on a Saturday schedule . Regional Routes 11X, 21, and 29 operate on their normal schedule.)
- Santa Rosa CityBus (Friday, Nov. 29th – Saturday Service)
- Dumbarton Express
- Commute.org Shuttles (Friday, Nov. 29th – No Service)
- Fairfield and Suisun Transit (FAST)
