Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need.
- Consider other travel options including travelling off peak, walking, cycling and driving where possible as there will be limited space on replacement buses.
- It is strongly recommended to wear a face mask in indoor public spaces and when you can’t physically distance from others.
Metro
Tuesday 4 to Friday 7 October
- Metro runs between Tallawong and North Ryde only.
- Buses run between Macquarie University and Chatswood:
– Change at Macquarie University for replacement buses to Chatswood
– Remain on the metro for Macquarie Park and North Ryde
- Limited buses also replace trains on the T1 North Shore Line between Gordon and North Sydney. Plan ahead and make alternative travel arrangements, if possible. If you are travelling to the City please change at Epping, not Chatswood, for a T9 Northern Line train to Central or North Sydney.
Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 October
- Buses replace metro between Tallawong and Chatswood.
- Buses also replace trains on the T1 North Shore Line. If you are travelling to the City change at Epping, not Chatswood, for a T9 Northern Line train to Central.
City Circle
Tuesday 4 to Thursday 6 October
- Nightly from 9.40pm until 1.30am, trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Town Hall.
- Some trains may start or end at Central, run to a changed timetable or leave from different platforms.
Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 October
- Trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Museum.
- Some trains may start or end at Central, run to a changed timetable or leave from different platforms.
T1 North Shore Line
Hornsby lift to platforms 2 and 3 out of service
- From Tuesday 4 October to Monday 12 December, the lift servicing platforms 2 and 3 at Hornsby Station will be closed for maintenance.
Tuesday 4 to Friday 7 October
- Until 10.30pm Friday, buses replace trains between Gordon and North Sydney.
- From 10.30pm Friday, buses also replace trains between North Sydney and Wynyard.
- A very limited bus service will run during this trackwork. Please plan ahead and make alternative travel arrangements, if possible.
Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 October
- Buses replace trains between Hornsby and Wynyard.
- T9 Northern Line trains run to a changed timetable between Berowra or Hornsby and Central, platforms 1-12, via Strathfield.
T1 Western Line
Tuesday 4 to Friday 7 October
- Until 10.30pm Friday, trains run to a changed timetable between Penrith or Richmond and North Sydney only. You may need to change trains to continue your journey.
- Limited buses replace trains on the T1 North Shore Line between North Sydney and Gordon. Please plan ahead and make alternative travel arrangements, if possible. Consider travelling via the T9 Northern Line.
- Wednesday from 11pm until 1.30am, most trains make extra stops at Homebush and Burwood.
Friday 7 to Sunday 9 October
- From 10.30pm Friday, Penrith trains start and end at Central, platforms 1-12.
- If you are travelling to T1 North Shore Line stations change at Central for the light rail or a City Circle train to Wynyard, then change for a bus.
- On Saturday and Sunday, Richmond trains run between Richmond and Olympic Park only. Change trains at Parramatta to continue your journey towards the City.
T2 Inner West & Leppington Line
Tuesday 4 to Friday 7 October
- Some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern.
- Wednesday from 11pm until 1.30am, buses replace Homebush trains between Strathfield and Ashfield.
T3 Bankstown Line
Tuesday 4 to Friday 7 October
- Buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Sydenham.
- Trains run between Liverpool and the City via Regents Park, stopping all stations to Lidcombe, then limited stops to the City Circle.
Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 October
- Buses replace trains between Cabramatta or Lidcombe and Sydenham.
- Trains run between Leppington, Liverpool and the City via Granville.
T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line,
Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 October
- All Cronulla and some Waterfall trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville.
- Daily from 8am until 8pm, extra trains run between Hurstville and Bondi Junction.
T5 Cumberland Line
Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 October
- Some early morning and late night trains start and end at Olympic Park. You may need to change trains at Granville to continue your journey.
T8 Airport & South Line
Tuesday 4 to Friday 7 October
- Each morning and afternoon extra trains run between Revesby and the City via Sydenham.
- Tuesday to Thursday, nightly from 9.40pm until 1.30am, trains start and end at Central. You may need to change trains at Central to continue your journey.
Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 October
- Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. You may need to change trains to continue your journey.
T9 Northern Line

Saturday 8 October
- From 10pm until 4am, buses replace trains between Newcastle Interchange and Telarah.
South Coast Line
Saturday 8 October
- From 8am until 4pm, at Waterfall, trains towards Wollongong leave from platform 1, not platform 2.
Sunday 9 October
- From 8am until 4pm, at Helensburgh and Otford, trains towards Wollongong leave from platform 1, not platform 2.
