Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need.
- The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
- Maintenance work is being prioritized during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains.
- Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.
City Circle
Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 August
- Daily from 4am to 6.30am, trains will not run on the City Circle, or between Central and Wynyard.
- For travel around the City you can catch the light rail between Central and Circular Quay or local bus services.
- Buses replace trains between Central and Strathfield.
T1 North Shore Line
Monday 14, Tuesday 15 and Thursday 17 August
- Nightly from 9.20pm to 3.30am, buses replace Central Coast & Newcastle Line trains between Hornsby and Berowra.
- T1 North Shore Line trains continue to run between Hornsby and Berowra, to the normal timetable.
Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 August
- Daily from 4am to 6.30am, trains run to a changed timetable between Berowra and Wynyard only. Some trains start and end at North Sydney.
- Trains will not run on the City Circle, or between Wynyard, Central and Strathfield. The light rail runs between Circular Quay, Wynyard and Central.
T1 Western Line
Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 August
- Daily from 4am to 6.30am, buses replace trains between Strathfield and Central.
- Penrith trains run between Penrith and Strathfield or Ashfield only, to a changed timetable and stopping pattern.
- Trackwork also affects trains on the T1 North Shore Line and City Circle.
Sunday 20 August
- From 5.50am to 8.45am, buses replace trains between Richmond and Blacktown.
- From 8.45am to 11am, buses replace trains between Richmond and Schofields.
- From 10pm, trains make an extra stop at Olympic Park.
T2 Inner West & Leppington Line
Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 August
- Daily from 4am to 6.30am, buses replace trains between Strathfield or Ashfield and Central.
- Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Ashfield via Granville.
- Saturday from 6.30am to 10.30am, Inner West trains run between Ashfield and the City only.
- All Leppington and some T1 Western Line trains make extra stops at Homebush and Croydon.
T3 Bankstown Line
Thursday 17 August
- From 8.40pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Bankstown.
Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 August
- Daily from 4am to 6.30am, buses replace trains between Sydenham and Central. Trains run to a changed timetable between Liverpool or Lidcombe and Sydenham only.
T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line
Monday 14, Tuesday 15 and Thursday 17 August
- Nightly from 9.40pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction.
Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 August
- Daily from 4am to 6.30am, buses replace trains between Sydenham and Central.

- Nightly from 11.50pm to 1.30am, some trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond or Leppington and Olympic Park only. Some trains start and end at Granville.

- From 5.50am to 8.45am, buses replace trains between Richmond and Blacktown.
- From 8.45am to 11am, buses replace trains between Richmond and Schofields.

- From 10.30pm to 2am, buses replace trains between Olympic Park and Lidcombe.
