Sydney & NSW - Trackwork Monday 18 to Sunday 24 September 2023

    Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need. 

    • The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
    • Maintenance work is being prioritized during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains. 
    • Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.

    City Circle

    Monday 18 September   

    • From 9.50pm to 11.30pm, trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Museum.
    • From 11.30pm to 1.30am, trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Town Hall.
    • Some trains start or end at Central, run to a changed timetable or leave from different platforms.
    • You may need to change trains to continue your journey. 

    Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 September     

    • Nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Museum.
    • Some trains start or end at Central, run to a changed timetable or leave from different platforms.
    • You may need to change trains to continue your journey.

    T1 North Shore Line

    Monday 18 to Thursday 21 September     

    • Nightly from 10.30pm to 1am, buses replace trains between Berowra and Hornsby.

    T2 Inner West & Leppington Line

    Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 September  

    • Buses replace trains between Leppington and Fairfield.
    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Fairfield and the City via Granville.

    T3 Bankstown Line

    Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 September  

    • Buses replace trains between Lidcombe, Cabramatta and Sydenham.
    • Buses also replace T2 Leppington Line trains between Leppington and Fairfield. 

    T5 Cumberland Line

    Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 September  

    • Buses replace trains between Leppington and Fairfield.
    • Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Schofields and Olympic Park, and between Fairfield and the City via Granville.
    • You may need to change trains to continue your journey.

    T8 Airport & South Line

    Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 September  

    • Buses replace trains between Macarthur and East Hills.
    • Trains run between East Hills and the City via the Airport, some to a changed timetable.
    • Buses also replace trains between Leppington, Glenfield and Fairfield.

    Central Coast & Newcastle Line

    Monday 18 to Thursday 21 September     

    • Buses replace the 23:12 Gosford to Central service from Gosford to Hornsby.
    • Nightly from 11.20pm to 3am, trains from Hornsby to Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations may run up to 15 minutes later than the normal timetable due to trackwork between Hornsby and Cowan.

    Hunter Line

    Thursday 21 September

    • Buses replace the following trains between Maitland and Muswellbrook:
      • 08:14 Newcastle Interchange to Muswellbrook
      • 10:09 Muswellbrook to Newcastle Interchange.

    Southern Highlands Line

    Friday 22 September  

    • From 8pm to 2am, buses replace trains from Moss Vale to Campbelltown.
    • From 9.50pm to 2am, buses replace trains from Campbelltown to Moss Vale.

    Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 September   

    • Buses replace trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and East Hills.
    • You may need to change buses to continue your journey.
