Sydney & NSW - Trackwork Monday 11 to Sunday 17 September 2023

    Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need. 

    • The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
    • Maintenance work is being prioritized during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains. 
    • Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.

    Metro

    Tuesday 12 September

    • From 9.30pm, metro will run to a reduced frequency between Tallawong and Chatswood.
    • Services may leave from different platforms, please check indicator screens before boarding.

    City Circle

    Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September   

    • Trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Museum.
    • Some trains start or end at Central, run to a changed timetable or leave from different platforms.

    T1 North Shore Line

    Monday 11 to Thursday 14 September  

    • Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central.

    T1 Western Line

    Monday 11 to Thursday 14 September  

    • Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, some trains run to a changed timetable and make extra stops between Ashfield and Macdonaldtown.

    T2 Inner West & Leppington Line

    Monday 11 to Thursday 14 September  

    • Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, Inner West trains will not run.
    • Leppington, T1 Western and T9 Northern Line trains run to a changed timetable and make extra stops at some stations between Homebush and Macdonaldtown. 

    Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September 

    • Buses replace trains between Leppington and Glenfield.
    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Macarthur, Glenfield and the City via Granville, and between Campbelltown, Glenfield and Central via Regents Park. 
    • Saturday from 6.30am to 10.30am, trains between Macarthur and Central will not stop at Ashfield. T9 Northern Line trains make an extra stop at Ashfield.

    T3 Bankstown Line

    Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September 

    • Trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork on the City Circle and T2 Leppington and T8 Airport & South lines.

    T5 Cumberland Line

    Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 September  

    • Nightly from 11.50pm to 1.30am, some trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond or Leppington and Olympic Park only. Some trains start and end at Granville.
    • You may need to change trains at Granville to continue your journey. 

    Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September   

    • Buses replace trains between Leppington and Glenfield.
    • Early morning and late night T5 trains will not run.
    • You may need to change trains at Granville to continue your journey.

    T8 Airport & South Line

    Friday 15 September   

    • From 11.50pm to 2am, buses replace trains between Glenfield and Revesby.

    Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September   

    • Buses replace trains between Glenfield and Sydenham, and between Sydenham and Central via the Airport.

    T9 Northern Line

    Monday 11 to Thursday 14 September  

    • Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, some trains run to a changed timetable and make extra stops between Strathfield and Macdonaldtown.

    Blue Mountains Line

    Monday 11 to Thursday 14 September  

    • Nightly from 11.50pm to 1.30am, trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central. Some trains run around the City Circle.

    Central Coast & Newcastle Line

    Monday 11 to Thursday 14 September  

    • Nightly from 11.20pm to 1.30am, trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central. Some trains run around the City Circle.

    Hunter Line

    Wednesday 13 September

    • From 8.45am to 11.15am, buses replace trains between Maitland and Muswellbrook.

    South Coast Line

    Monday 11 to Thursday 14 September  

    • Nightly from 11.50pm to 1.30am, some trains run around the City Circle. 

    Saturday 16 September

    • From 3am to 11am, buses replace trains between Port Kembla and Wollongong, and between Dapto and Waterfall.
    • Trains run between Bomaderry, Kiama and Dapto, some to a changed timetable. 

    Sunday 17 September

    • From 3am to 9.50am, buses replace trains between Bomaderry, Kiama and Wollongong.
    • Trains run between Port Kembla, Wollongong and Hurstville or Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable

    Southern Highlands Line

    Saturday 16 September

    • From 10am to 4pm, buses replace trains between Campbelltown and Moss Vale.
