Sydney & NSW - Trackwork Monday 20 to Sunday 26 November 2023

    Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need. 

    • The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
    • Maintenance work is being prioritized during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains. 
    • Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.

    Metro

    Monday 20 to Thursday 23 November   

    • Nightly from 8.45pm, buses replace metro from Tallawong to Chatswood.
    • Nightly from 9.25pm, buses replace metro from Chatswood to Tallawong.

    City Circle

    Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November  

    • Trains will not run to Museum, St James or Circular Quay.
    • T1 North Shore & Western and T9 Northern Line trains continue to run between Central, Town Hall and Wynyard.
    • T4 Eastern Suburbs Line trains continue to run between Central, Town Hall, Martin Place and Kings Cross.
    • The light rail runs between Central and Circular Quay. 

    T1 Western Line

    Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November  

    • Saturday, Penrith trains run to a changed timetable, making extra stops at Flemington and Burwood.
    • Richmond trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Olympic Park. Change trains at Lidcombe to continue your journey towards Central.
    • Sunday, Penrith trains run to a changed timetable, making extra stops at Flemington, Homebush and Burwood.
    • Richmond trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Macarthur. 
    • From 5.50am to 8.45am, buses replace trains between Richmond and Blacktown.
    • From 8.45am to 11am, buses replace trains between Richmond and Schofields.
    • Trains run between Blacktown or Schofields and Macarthur, to a changed timetable.

    T2 Inner West & Leppington Line

    Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November  

    • Buses replace trains between Leppington and Glenfield.
    • Buses also replace T8 Airport & South Line trains between Glenfield and Central via the Airport.
    • Saturday, trains run to a changed timetable between Macarthur and Olympic Park. Change trains at Lidcombe to continue your journey towards Central.
    • T1 Western Line Penrith trains make extra stops at Flemington and Burwood.
    • Sunday, trains run to a changed timetable between Macarthur and North Sydney. making an extra stop at Homebush.

    T3 Bankstown Line

    Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November  

    • Trains run between Liverpool or Lidcombe and Sydenham only, some to a changed timetable.
    • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line trains run between Sydenham and Bondi Junction, with some making extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville.
    • Trackwork on the City Circle may also affect how you travel. If you are travelling to Circular Quay change at Town Hall for the light rail. 

    T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line

    Monday 20 to Thursday 23 November   

    • Nightly from 9.40pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Central and Bondi Junction.
    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Cronulla or Waterfall and Central or North Sydney. Change at Town Hall for express buses towards Bondi Junction. 

    Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November

    • All Cronulla and some Waterfall trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville.
    • Daily from 8am to 8pm, extra trains run between Hurstville and Bondi Junction.
    • Due to City Circle trackwork, if you are travelling to Circular Quay change at Town Hall for the light rail.

    T5 Cumberland Line

    Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 November

    • Nightly from 11.50pm to 1.30am, some trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond or Leppington and Olympic Park only. Some trains start and end at Granville.
    • You may need to change trains at Granville to continue your journey. 

    Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November  

    • Buses replace trains between Leppington and Glenfield.
    • Trains run between Schofields and Liverpool, to the normal timetable.
    • Saturday, early morning and late night trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Olympic Park, making extra stops at Granville and Lidcombe. Change trains at Granville or Lidcombe to continue your journey.
    • Sunday, early morning and late night trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Macarthur. Change trains at Parramatta to continue your journey towards Central.
    • From 5.50am to 8.45am, buses replace trains between Richmond and Blacktown.
    • From 8.45am to 11am, buses replace trains between Richmond and Schofields.
    • Trains run between Blacktown or Schofields and Liverpool, some to a changed timetable.

    T7 Olympic Park Line

    Saturday 27 November

    • Extra trains run between Macarthur or Richmond and Olympic Park.

    T8 Airport & South Line

    Friday 24 November  

    • From 11.50pm to 2am, buses replace trains between Glenfield and Sydenham, and between Sydenham and Central via the Airport.
    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Macarthur and Liverpool. 

    Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November  

    • Buses replace trains between Glenfield and Sydenham, and between Sydenham and Central via the Airport.
    • Trains run to a changed timetable between:
      • Saturday only, Macarthur and Olympic Park
      • Sunday only, Macarthur and Richmond or North Sydney
      • Sydenham and Central, continuing to Bondi Junction
    • Due to City Circle trackwork, if you are travelling to Circular Quay change at Town Hall for the light rail.

    Blue Mountains Line

    Wednesday 22 November

    • Effective immediately, Wednesdays’ Bathurst Bullet train service has important timetable changes

    Hunter Line

    Tuesday 21 to Thursday 23 November

    • From 4am Tuesday to 10pm Thursday, buses replace trains between Scone and Maitland.
    • Trains between Dungog, Maitland and Newcastle Interchange may run to a changed timetable.
    • Tuesday and Wednesday, nightly from 7.20pm to 4.30am, buses replace all trains between Scone, Dungog and Newcastle Interchange. 

    Sunday 26 November

    • From 9.55pm to 1.20am, buses replace trains from Newcastle Interchange to Telarah.
    • From 11pm to 12.10am, buses replace trains from Telarah to Newcastle Interchange.

    South Coast Line

    Tuesday 21 to Thursday 23 November

    • Nightly from 8.50pm to 3am, buses replace trains between Bomaderry, Kiama and Wollongong.
    • Trains run between Port Kembla, Wollongong and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable. 

    Thursday 23 November  

    • From 9.20am to 2pm, buses replace trains between Port Kembla and Wollongong.
    • Buses towards Wollongong may leave stations up to 15 minutes earlier than the normal train timetable.

    Southern Highlands Line

    Saturday 25 November

    • From 10am to 4pm, buses replace trains between Campbelltown and Moss Vale.
