Sydney & NSW - Trackwork Monday 30 October to Sunday 5 November 2023

    Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need. 

    • The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
    • Maintenance work is being prioritized during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains. 
    • Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.

    Metro

    Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November

    • Buses replace metro between Tallawong and Chatswood.

    City Circle

    Monday 30 October to Thursday 2 November    

    • Nightly from 9.40pm to 1.30am, trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Town Hall.
    • Some trains may start or end at Central, run to a changed timetable or leave from different platforms.
    • The light rail runs in both directions between Circular Quay, Wynyard, Town Hall and Central

    T1 Western Line

    Wednesday 1 November    

    • From 10.50pm to 1.30am, most trains make extra stops at Homebush and Burwood. 

    Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November  

    • Buses replace trains between Parramatta and Olympic Park.
    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Penrith, Richmond and Leppington, and between Olympic Park and the City.

    T2 Inner West & Leppington Line

    Tuesday 31 October to Thursday 2 November   

    • Nightly from 10.05pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Leppington and Fairfield.
    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Fairfield and the City via Granville.
    • Wednesday from 11pm to 1.30am, buses replace Inner West trains between Strathfield and Ashfield.
    • Trains run between Ashfield and the City Circle, some to a changed timetable.

    Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November  

    • Buses replace trains between Merrylands and Olympic Park.
    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Penrith or Richmond, and between Olympic Park and the City.

    T3 Bankstown Line

    Tuesday 31 October to Thursday 2 November    

    • Nightly from 10.15pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Liverpool and Villawood.
    • Trains run between Villawood and the City, some to a changed timetable. 

    Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November  

    • Buses replace trains between Olympic Park, Lidcombe and Bankstown.
    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Liverpool and the City via Sydenham.

    T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line

    Monday 30 October to Thursday 2 November    

    • Nightly from 9.50pm to 2am, buses replace trains between Cronulla and Sutherland.
    • Trains run between Waterfall, Sutherland and Bondi Junction, and will not stop at Wolli Creek, but make an extra stop at Arncliffe.
    • Buses run between Arncliffe, Wolli Creek and Sydenham. 

    Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November  

    • Buses replace trains between Cronulla and Sutherland.
    • Trains run between Waterfall, Sutherland and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable.
    • Saturday from 5.40am to 8am, trains run between Waterfall and the City Circle, and between Central and Bondi Junction only. Change at Central or Town Hall for trains towards Bondi Junction.
    • Saturday from 11.30pm to 2am, buses replace trains between Cronulla, Waterfall and Hurstville. 
    • Trains run between Hurstville and Bondi Junction, to a changed timetable.

    T5 Cumberland Line

    Tuesday 31 October to Thursday 2 November    

    • Nightly from 10.05pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Leppington and Fairfield.
    • Most trains run to a changed timetable between Fairfield and Richmond. 

    Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November  

    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Penrith or Richmond.

    T7 Olympic Park Line

    Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November  

    • Buses replace trains between Olympic Park and Parramatta, Merrylands or Bankstown.
    • Trains run between Olympic Park and Lidcombe, and between Olympic Park and the City.

    Blue Mountains Line

    Friday 3 November  

    • From 10pm to 2am, trains run between Blue Mountains Line stations and the City Circle. 

    Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November  

    • Buses replace trains between Blacktown and Strathfield.
    • Trains from Blacktown towards Blue Mountains Line stations leave 30 minutes later than normal.
    • Some trains between Bathurst and Lithgow also run to a changed timetable.
    • If you are travelling to Lithgow to connect with NSW TrainLink Regional Coaches please call 132 232 to confirm departure times. 

    Central Coast & Newcastle Line

    Friday 3 November  

    • From 9.40pm to 2am, trains run between Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations and Strathfield or the City Circle. 

    Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November  

    • Trains run between Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations and Strathfield only.

    South Coast Line

    Monday 30 October to Thursday 2 November    

    • Nightly from 9.50pm to 2am, trains will not stop at Wolli Creek, but make extra stops at Arncliffe and Sydenham.
    • Buses run between Arncliffe, Wolli Creek and Sydenham. 

    Saturday 4 November  

    • From 5.40am to 8am, trains run between South Coast Line stations and Central, platforms 1-12 only. 
    • From 11.30pm to 2am, buses replace trains between Waterfall and Hurstville.
    • Trains run between South Coast Line stations and Waterfall, and between Hurstville and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable. 

    Sunday 5 November  

    • From 9am to 5pm, buses replace trains from Port Kembla to Wollongong.
    • From 10am to 6pm, buses replace trains from Wollongong to Port Kembla.
    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Wollongong, Thirroul and the City.
