Sydney & NSW - Trackwork Monday 21 to Sunday 27 August 2023

    Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need. 

    • The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
    • Maintenance work is being prioritized during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains. 
    • Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.

    Metro

    Friday 25 to Sunday 27 August

    • From 10.50pm Friday, there is no trackwork on the metro, but trackwork on the T1 North Shore Line may affect how you travel.
    • If you are travelling to the City change at Epping, not Chatswood, for trains to Central.

    City Circle

    Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 August   

    • Nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Museum. 
    • Some trains may start or end at Central, run to a changed timetable or leave from different platforms.  

    Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 August  

    • Trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Museum.
    • Some trains may start or end at Central, run to a changed timetable or leave from different platforms.

    T1 North Shore Line

    Monday 21 to Thursday 24 August  

    • Nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Hornsby and Central. 

    Friday 25 August  

    • From 10.50pm to 2am, buses replace trains between Gordon and Wynyard. 

    Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 August  

    • Buses replace trains between Hornsby and Wynyard.

    T1 Western Line

    Monday 21 to Thursday 24 August  

    • Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, trains start and end at Central, platforms 1-12. 

    Friday 25 to Sunday 27 August  

    • From 10.50pm Friday, Penrith trains start and end at Central, platforms 1-12.
    • Saturday and Sunday, Richmond trains run between Richmond and Olympic Park only. Change trains at Parramatta to continue your journey towards the City.

    T2 Inner West & Leppington Line

    Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 August  

    • Inner West trains run to a changed timetable between Liverpool and the City via Regents Park.

    T3 Bankstown Line

    Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 August   

    • Buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Sydenham.
    • Trains run between Liverpool and the City via Regents Park, stopping all stations between Liverpool and Lidcombe.
    • Some T4 Illawarra Line trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville.

    T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line

    Monday 21 to Thursday 24 August  

    • Nightly from 9.45pm to 2am, buses replace trains between Cronulla and Sutherland. 

    Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 August  

    • All Cronulla and some Waterfall trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville.
    • Daily from 8am to 8pm, extra trains run between Hurstville and Bondi Junction.

    T5 Cumberland Line

    Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 August  

    • Some early morning and late-night trains start and end at Olympic Park. You may need to change trains at Granville to continue your journey.

    T7 Olympic Park Line

    Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 August  

    • Extra trains run between Olympic Park and Richmond.

    T8 Airport & South Line

    Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 August   

    • Nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, trains start and end at Central due to City Circle trackwork. 

    Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 August  

    • Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. 
    • Revesby trains run between Revesby and Central only.
    • Most Macarthur trains from the City run via Sydenham. 
    • Early morning and late evening trains run via the Airport but start and end at Central, platform 23.

    T9 Northern Line

    Monday 21 to Thursday 24 August  

    • Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, trains run between Hornsby and Central, platforms 1-12 only. 

    Friday 25 to Sunday 27 August  

    • From 10.50pm Friday, trains run between Hornsby and Central, platforms 1-12.
    • Saturday and Sunday, trains run between Berowra or Hornsby and Central, platforms 1-12, some to a changed timetable.

    Central Coast & Newcastle Line

    Monday 21 to Thursday 24 August  

    • Nightly from 8.45pm to 1.45am, buses replace trains from Newcastle Interchange to Wyong.
    • Nightly from 9.50pm to 3.40am, buses replace trains from Wyong to Newcastle Interchange.

    Hunter Line

    Monday 21 to Thursday 24 August  

    • Nightly from 11pm to 1am, trains towards Telarah run up to 20 minutes later than the normal timetable, due to trackwork on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line. 

    Thursday 24 August  

    • From 8.45am to 11.15am buses replace trains between Maitland and Muswellbrook.

    Southern Highlands Line

    Saturday 26 August

    • From 10am to 4pm, buses replace trains between Campbelltown and Moss Vale.
