Sydney & NSW - Trackwork Monday 28 August to Sunday 3 September 2023

    Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need. 

    • The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
    • Maintenance work is being prioritized during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains. 
    • Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.

    Metro

    Monday 28 to Thursday 31 August 

    • Nightly from 11pm, metro will run to a reduced frequency between Tallawong and Chatswood.
    • Services may leave from different platforms.

    City Circle

    Monday 28 to Thursday 31 August  

    • Nightly from 9.40pm to 1.30am, trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Town Hall.
    • Some trains start or end at Central, run to a changed timetable or leave from different platforms. 

    Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 September  

    • Trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Town Hall.
    • Some trains start or end at Central, run to a changed timetable or leave from different platforms.

    T1 North Shore Line

    Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 September  

    • Trains run between Hornsby and Wynyard only, to a change timetable.
    • From Wynyard, City Circle trains run in one direction, via Circular Quay. 
    • T9 Northern Line trains run to a changed timetable between Berowra or Hornsby and Central, platforms 1-12, via Strathfield. 
    • From 7.30pm Saturday to 4.40am Sunday, buses replace trains between Berowra and Hornsby.

    T1 Western Line

    Monday 28 to Thursday 31 August  

    • Nightly from 7.30pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Richmond and Blacktown.
    • Trains run between Blacktown and the City, some to a changed timetable. 

    Friday 1 September  

    • From 10.50pm to 2am, buses replace trains between Emu Plains and St Marys and some late-night trains from Blacktown to Penrith.
    • Most trains run to a changed timetable between St Marys and the City. 

    Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 September   

    • Buses replace trains between Emu Plains and Blacktown.
    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Blacktown and Central, platforms 1-12 only.
    • Richmond trains run between Richmond and Olympic Park. Change at Parramatta to continue your journey towards the City. 
    • Sunday from 6.30am to 10.30am, Richmond trains run between Richmond and Leppington.

    T3 Bankstown Line

    Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 September  

    • Trains run between Liverpool or Lidcombe and Sydenham only. Change trains at Sydenham to continue your journey.
    • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville.

    T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line

    Monday 28 to Thursday 31 August  

    • Nightly from 9.45pm to 2am, buses replace trains between Cronulla and Sutherland.
    • Trains run between Waterfall, Sutherland and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable. 

    Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 September  

    • All Cronulla and some Waterfall trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville.
    • Daily from 8am to 8pm, extra trains run between Hurstville and Bondi Junction.

    T5 Cumberland Line

    Monday 28 to Thursday 31 August  

    • Nightly from 7.30pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Richmond and Blacktown.
    • Tuesday and Wednesday, nightly from 11.50pm to 1.30am, some trains run to a changed timetable between Blacktown or Leppington and Olympic Park only. 
    • You may need to change trains at Granville to continue your journey.

    T8 Airport & South Line

    Monday 28 to Thursday 31 August  

    • Nightly from 9.40pm to 1.30am, trains start and end at Central. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. 

    Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 September  

    • Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. You may need to change trains to continue your journey.
    • Revesby trains run between Revesby and Central only.

    T9 Northern Line

    Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 September  

    • Trains run between Berowra or Hornsby and Central, platforms 1-12, some to a changed timetable.
    • From 7.30pm Saturday to 4.40am Sunday, buses replace trains between Berowra and Hornsby.
    • Trains run between Hornsby and Central, platforms 1-12 only.

    Blue Mountains Line

    Monday 28 August to Friday 1 September  

    • From 2am Monday to 10pm Friday, buses replace trains between Lithgow and Mount Victoria, then continue to Blackheath.
    • There is no lift at Mount Victoria. Change at Blackheath for easy access.
    • Friday from 10pm, buses replace trains from Lithgow to Blacktown.
    • From 11pm, buses replace trains from Blacktown to Lithgow.
    • T1 Western Line trains run between the City and St Marys, to a changed timetable. Change at Blacktown for buses to Blue Mountains Line stations. 

    Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 September  

    • Buses replace trains between Bathurst and Blacktown. 

    Central Coast & Newcastle Line

    Saturday 2 to Sunday 3 September  

    • From 7.30pm Saturday to 4.40am Sunday, buses replace trains between Wyong and Hornsby.
    • Some trains run to a changed timetable.

    Thursday 31 August

    • Buses replace the 01:47 Central to Newcastle Interchange service from Central to Hornsby. This train will start from Hornsby at 02:23.
    • The 03:44 Central to Newcastle Interchange service will leave Central at 03:55.

    South Coast Line

    Thursday 31 August  

    • From 9.20am to 2pm, buses replace trains between Port Kembla and Wollongong.
    • Buses towards Wollongong may leave stations up to 15 minutes earlier than the normal train timetable.
