Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need.
- The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
- Maintenance work is being prioritized during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains.
- Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.
Metro
Monday 24 to Thursday 27 June
- Nightly from 9.40pm to 1.30am, trackwork on the T1 North Shore Line may affect how you travel. Change at Epping for trains to the City.
Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 June
- Buses replace metro services between Tallawong and Chatswood.
City Circle
Monday 24 June
- From 9.50pm to 11.55pm, trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Museum.
- From 11.55pm to 1.30am, trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Town Hall.
Tuesday 25 to Thursday 27 June
- Nightly from 9.40pm to 1.30am, trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Town Hall.
Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 June
- Trains will not run to Museum, St James or Circular Quay.
- T1 North Shore & Western, T2 Inner West and T9 Northern Line trains continue to run between Central, Town Hall and Wynyard.
- T4 Eastern Suburbs Line trains continue to run between Central, Town Hall, Martin Place and Kings Cross.
- The light rail runs between Central and Circular Quay.
T1 North Shore Line
Monday 24 to Thursday 27 June
- Nightly from 9.40pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Hornsby and Wynyard.
T1 Western Line
Monday 24 to Thursday 27 June
- Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, trains run between Western Line stations and Central, platforms 1-12 only.
Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 June
- Penrith trains make an extra stop at Ashfield.
- Richmond trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern between Richmond and Olympic Park. Change trains at Parramatta to continue your journey towards Central.
- Sunday from 6.30am to 10.30am, Richmond trains start and end at Strathfield.
T2 Inner West & Leppington Line
Tuesday 25 to Thursday 27 June
- Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Leppington and Fairfield.
Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 June
- Buses replace trains between Leppington and Glenfield.
- Inner West trains run to a changed timetable between Homebush and North Sydney due to City Circle trackwork.
- T1 Western Line Penrith trains make an extra stop at Ashfield.
T3 Bankstown Line
Tuesday 25 to Thursday 27 June
- Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Liverpool and Villawood.
Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 June
- Trains run between Liverpool or Lidcombe and Redfern only, some to a changed timetable.
- Change trains to continue your journey.
- Trackwork on the City Circle may also affect how you travel. If you are travelling to Circular Quay change at Town Hall for the light rail.
T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line
Monday 24 to Thursday 27 June
- Nightly from 9.40pm to 2.30am, buses replace trains between Cronulla and Sutherland.
- Trains run between Waterfall, Sutherland and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable.
T5 Cumberland Line
Tuesday 25 to Thursday 27 June
- Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Leppington and Fairfield.
- Most trains run to a changed timetable between Fairfield and Richmond.
Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 June
- Buses replace trains between Leppington and Glenfield.
- Early morning and late night trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Olympic Park, making extra stops at Granville and Lidcombe.
T8 Airport & South Line
Monday 24 to Thursday 27 June
- Nightly from 9.40pm to 1.30am, trains start and end at Central. Change trains at Central to continue your journey.
Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 June
- Buses replace trains between Glenfield, Sydenham and Central via the Airport.
T9 Northern Line
Monday 24 to Thursday 27 June
- Nightly from 10pm to 1.30am, trains run between Hornsby and Central, platforms 1-12 only.
South Coast Line
Saturday 29 June
- From 3am to 11am, buses replace trains between Port Kembla, Dapto and Waterfall.
Sunday 30 June
- From 2.30am to 9.50am, buses replace trains between Bomaderry and Wollongong.
- The 02:39 Kiama to Bondi Junction service will run up to 14 minutes earlier than the normal timetable from Kiama to Coniston, then run to the normal timetable from Wollongong to Bondi Junction.
Southern Highlands Line
Saturday 29 June
- From 4.40am to 4pm, buses replace trains between Goulburn, Moss Vale and Campbelltown.
- T8 Airport & South Line trains run to a changed timetable between Campbelltown and Central via Granville. Buses replace trains between Glenfield and Central via the Airport.
