Sydney & NSW - Trackwork Monday 29 April to Sunday 5 May 2024

    Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need. 

    • The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
    • Maintenance work is being prioritized during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains. 
    • Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.

    Metro

    Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May  

    • Buses replace metro services between Tallawong and Chatswood.
    • City Circle trackwork also affects trains on the T1 North Shore and T9 Northern lines.

    City Circle Line

    Monday 29 April 

    • From 9.50pm to 11.55pm, trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Museum.
    • From 11.55pm to 1.30am, trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Town Hall.
    • You may need to change trains to continue your journey. 

    Tuesday 30 April to Thursday 2 May  

    • Nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, trains run in one direction only, from Central first stop Museum.
    • You may need to change trains to continue your journey.
    • The light rail runs in both directions between Circular Quay and Central.

    Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May    

    • Trains will not run on the City Circle, or between Central and Wynyard.
    • For travel around the City use the light rail between Central and Circular Quay, or local bus services.
    • T4 Eastern Suburbs Line trains continue to run between Central and Bondi Junction, stopping at Town Hall, Martin Place and Kings Cross

    T1 North Shore Line

    Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May   

    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Hornsby and Wynyard only.
    • Trains will not run between Wynyard and Central, or on the City Circle. You can change at Wynyard for the light rail or local buses to continue your journey.

    T1 Western Line

    Friday 3 to Sunday 5 May   

    • From 10.20pm Friday to 8am Saturday, buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Strathfield. Richmond trains run between Richmond and Leppington.
    • From 8am Saturday, trains run between Emu Plains and Central, platforms 1-12, and make extra stops at Flemington, Homebush and Burwood.Richmond trains run between Richmond and Leppington.
    • Trackwork on the City Circle may also affect how you travel. 
    • Sunday from 5.30am to 10.20am, Richmond trains run between Richmond and Olympic Park

    T2 Inner West & Leppington Line

    Friday 3 to Sunday 5 May 

    • From 10.20pm Friday to 2am Saturday, buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Strathfield, and Inner West trains between Strathfield and Ashfield.
    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Olympic Park via Granville.
    • Saturday from 2am to 8am, buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Strathfield, and Inner West trains between Strathfield and Central. 
    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Lidcombe via Regents Park.
    • Saturday from 8am, buses replace Inner West trains between Strathfield and Central. 
    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Lidcombe via Regents Park, and between Leppington and Richmond.
    • Sunday from 5.50am to 10.20am, buses replace trains between Cabramatta and Granville.
    • Trackwork on the City Circle may also affect how you travel.

    T3 Bankstown Line

    Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May   

    • Buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Sydenham.
    • Trains run between Liverpool and Lidcombe via Regents Park, and between Sydenham and Bondi Junction, to a changed timetable. 
    • Trackwork on the City Circle may also affect how you travel. 

    T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line

    Monday 29 April to Thursday 2 May

    • Nightly from 9.50pm to 2.30am, buses replace trains between Cronulla and Sutherland.
    • Trains run between Waterfall and Bondi Junction, some to a changed timetable. 

    Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May    

    • All Cronulla and some Waterfall trains make extra stops at St Peters and Erskineville.
    • Daily from 8am to 8pm, extra trains run between Hurstville and Bondi Junction.
    • Trackwork on the City Circle may also affect how you travel.

    T5 Cumberland Line

    Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May   

    • Trains run to a changed timetable with extra trains running between Leppington and Richmond.
    • Sunday from 5.50am to 10.20am, buses replace trains between Cabramatta and Granville.
    • Trains run to a changed timetable between Leppington and Lidcombe via Regents Park, and between Richmond or Schofields and Olympic Park.
    • You may need to change trains at Lidcombe to continue your journey.

    T7 Olympic Park Line

    Friday 3 to Sunday 5 May 

    • From 10.20pm Friday to 8am Saturday, buses replace trains between Lidcombe and Strathfield. Trains run to a changed timetable between Olympic Park and Lidcombe, with some trains continuing to Penrith or Leppington.
    • From 8am Saturday, some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern.

    T8 Airport & South Line

    Monday 29 April to Thursday 2 May

    • Nightly from 9.50pm to 1.30am, trains start and end at Central due to City Circle trackwork. 

    Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May   

    • Trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. You may need to change trains to continue your journey.
    • Most Macarthur trains run between Macarthur and Sydenham only. Change trains at Revesby if you are travelling to Airport stations.
    • Trackwork on the City Circle may also affect how you travel.

    T9 Northern Line

    Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 April     

    • Nightly from 10.10pm to 2am, buses replace trains between Epping and Strathfield.
    • Trains run between Hornsby and Epping, and between Strathfield and the City, to a changed timetable. More>>
    • Nightly from 10.20pm to 1am, buses replace trains between Rhodes and Hornsby.
    • Trains run between Rhodes and the City, to a changed timetable. 

    Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May   

    • Daily until 8am, trains run between Berowra and Central, platforms 1-12, to a reduced frequency every 30 minutes.
    • Daily from 8am, trains run between Berowra or Hornsby and Central, platforms 1-12 only.
    • Trackwork on the Metro North West and City Circle may also affect how you travel.

    Blue Mountains Line

    Friday 3 to Saturday 4 May 

    • From 10pm Friday to 8am Saturday, trains run between Blue Mountains Line stations and Blacktown only due to trackwork between Lidcombe and Strathfield.
    • Trains between Bathurst and Lithgow may also run to a changed timetable. 

    Saturday 4 to Sunday 5 May 

    • From 8am Saturday, trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central.

    Central Coast & Newcastle Line

    Monday 29 April to Thursday 2 May   

    • Nightly from 10pm to 3am, most trains run to a changed timetable via the T1 North Shore Line, making extra stops at Gordon, Chatswood, then all stations to Central.
    • Trackwork also affects trains on the T9 Northern Line.

    Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May   

    • Trains may run to a changed timetable due to trackwork between Strathfield and Central.
