Metro
Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Tallawong Station and Chatswood Station.
Additional early morning services will start running at 2.37am from Tallawong to help you travel to the Dawn Service. Services will run every 10 minutes thereafter to a regular Sunday timetable. Change at Epping to connect with train services towards the city.
The closest train stations to the Dawn Service are Wynyard and Martin Place. Catch a train to Town Hall and change for a service to Martin Place leaving from Platform 5. Alternatively, catch a train to Wynyard and walk to Martin Place.
The closest train stations to the March along Elizabeth Street are Martin Place, St James, Museum and Town Hall stations. Trains run regularly to these stations during the day. After the March finishes at 1pm, trains will run to a regular Sunday timetable to get you back home.
Train
Additional early morning trains will run from as early as 2.36am on suburban lines and from 12.37am on NSW TrainLink Intercity lines.
The closest station to the Dawn Service is Martin Place on the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line. Catch a train to Town Hall and change for a service to Martin Place leaving from Platform 5. Alternatively, catch a train to Wynyard and walk to Martin Place.
The closest stations to the March along Elizabeth Street are Martin Place, St James and Town Hall stations. After the March finishes at 1pm, trains will run to a regular Sunday timetable to get you back home.
Additional services
Trains will run as per a regular Sunday timetable with, the following early-morning trains to get you to the city for the Dawn Service:
T1 Western Line
- Leaving Emu Plains at 2.26am – stopping all stations to Granville, then Redfern and all stations to North Sydney.
- Leaving Richmond at 2.26am – stopping all stations to Seven Hills, then Westmead, Parramatta, Granville, Lidcombe, Strathfield, Redfern and all stations to North Sydney.
T1 Northern Line
- Leaving Berowra at 2.45am – stopping all stations to Burwood via Epping (3.15am), then Redfern, Central, Town Hall, Wynyard, Milsons Point and North Sydney.
T1 North Shore Line
- Leaving Hornsby at 2.53am and 3.02am – stopping all stations to Central via Chatswood (3:18am and 3:27am).
T2 Inner West & Leppington Line
- Leaving Lidcombe at 3.04am – stopping all stations to Central via Strathfield and the City Circle.
- Leaving Leppington at 2.40am – stopping all stations to Lidcombe via Regents Park, then Strathfield, Redfern and all stations to Wynyard, then Circular Quay.
- Leaving Leppington at 2.44am – stopping all stations to Lidcombe via Granville, then Strathfield, Redfern, then all stations to Wynyard then Circular Quay.
T3 Bankstown Line
- Leaving Lidcombe at 2.51am – stopping all stations to the City via Bankstown and Sydenham.
T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line
- Leaving Cronulla at 2.57am – stopping all stations to Sydenham, then Redfern and all stations to Bondi Junction
- Leaving Waterfall at 2.46am – stopping all stations to Bondi Junction excluding St Peters and Erskineville.
- From 3.23am – additional all station shuttle services will operate every 10-15-minutes between Bondi Junction and Central until 5:10am.
T8 South Line
- Leaving Macarthur at 2.40am – stopping all stations to Wolli Creek, Mascot, then all to Circular Quay then Wynyard, Town Hall and Central.
Central Coast & Newcastle Line
- Leaving Newcastle Interchange at 12.37am – stopping all stations to Cowan then Hornsby and all stations to Central via the North Shore Line.
- Leaving Gosford at 2.11am – stopping all stations to Cowan then Hornsby and all stations to Central via the North Shore Line.
- Leaving Newcastle Interchange at 7.04am – stopping all stations to Wyong.
Hunter Line
- Leaving Telarah at 3.48am – stopping all stations to Newcastle Interchange. • Leaving Newcastle Interchange at 6.37am – stopping all stations to Telarah.
South Coast Line
- Leaving Kiama at 1.13am – stopping all stations to Sutherland then Redfern and all stations to Bondi Junction.
Blue Mountains Line
- Leaving Lithgow at 12.49am – stopping all stations to Penrith then Blacktown, Parramatta, Strathfield, Central, Town Hall and Wynyard.
Southern Highlands Line
- Leaving Moss Vale 1:35am – stopping all stations to Macarthur then Campbelltown and Central via East Hills.
Buses
Buses will run to a public holiday timetable with additional early-morning services starting from 2.30am on key routes into the city from the Northern Beaches, Lower North Shore, Inner West, Hills District, Lane Cove, Macquarie Park, Eastern Suburbs and Victoria Road.
Keep in mind that buses will be missing stops along and surrounding Martin Place and Elizabeth Street while roads are closed. You will need to walk further than usual to access the Dawn Service and March viewing areas.
Ferry
Sydney Ferries will run to a public holiday timetable. Ferry services to Circular Quay don’t run early in the morning on public holidays so you will need to catch a train or bus to get to the Dawn Service instead.
If you plan to catch a ferry to the city for the March, change at Circular Quay for trains to Town Hall, St James or Museum, or change for a light rail service to Town Hall to get within walking distance of Elizabeth Street.
Light Rail
L1 Dulwich Hill Line
L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 6am to 11pm daily, and until midnight on Friday. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.
On Thursday 25 April, additional L1 early-morning services between Central Grand Concourse and Dulwich Hill will run from 3am; L1 services will run to a Public Holiday schedule.
To get to the Dawn Service at Martin Place or to the March along Elizabeth Street, change at Capitol Square to connect with L2 or L3 Line light rail services from Chinatown to Town Hall or QVB to get within walking distance.
Service changes:
- From 3am (first service) to approx. 6.15am: L2 and L3 services will not run between Town Hall and Circular Quay while the Dawn Service is underway.
- Between 12.30pm and 1.30pm: L2 and L3 services may be temporarily held at stops or partially closed between Town Hall and Randwick/Juniors Kingsford due to road closures for the Anzac Day March.
- During the above times, use alternative transport including trains or walking.
L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines
L2 Randwick Line light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford Line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). On Thursday 25 April, additional L2 and L3 early-morning services between Town Hall and Randwick or Juniors Kingsford will run from 3am; L2 and L3 services will run to a Public Holiday schedule.
