Here’s the update on scheduled trackwork affecting services. Plan your trip and work out any extra travel time you need.
- The biggest coordinated program of rail maintenance ever undertaken in Sydney has begun in response to te recent recommendations made by the expert panel conducting the Sydney Trains Review for restoring reliability to the network.
- Maintenance work is being prioritized during the existing trackwork windows such as on weekends, weeknights, during school holidays or during weekday diversions when fewer people are catching trains.
- Train replacement buses may be impacted due to bus driver shortages. Consider catching local bus services where possible, or make alternative arrangements.
Metro
Monday 31 July and Tuesday 1 August
- Nightly from 9.30pm to 1.30am, there is no trackwork on the metro but trackwork on the T9 Northern Line may affect how you travel.
Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August
- Buses replace metro between Tallawong and Chatswood.
T1 North Shore Line
Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August
- Buses replace trains between Berowra and Hornsby.
- Trains run between Hornsby and the City, to a changed timetable.
T1 Western Line
Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August
- Richmond trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond and Leppington only. Change trains at Parramatta to continue your journey towards the City.
- Penrith trains make an extra stop at Burwood.
T2 Inner West & Leppington Line
Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August
- The all-stations Inner West trains run between Homebush and Central, then continue to T1 North Shore Line stations.
- Trains run between Leppington and the City Circle via Granville and Regents Park, some to a changed timetable.
T3 Bankstown Line
Saturday 5 August
- From 2am to 9.30am, buses replace trains between Bankstown and Sydenham.
T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line
Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August
- Daily from 6.30am to 12.15pm, some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern.
- Some trains start or end at Hurstville or Sutherland. You may need to change trains to continue your journey.
- Sunday from 1pm to 4pm, trains will not stop at Wolli Creek, but make an extra stop at Arncliffe.
- Buses run between Arncliffe, Wolli Creek and Sydenham.
- Change at Arncliffe or Sydenham for a bus to Wolli Creek.
- T8 Airport & South Line trains to and from the City continue to stop at Wolli Creek.
T5 Cumberland Line
Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 August
- Nightly from 11.50 pm to 1.30am, some trains run to a changed timetable between Richmond or Leppington and Olympic Park only. Some trains start and end at Granville.
T7 Olympic Park Line
Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August
- Buses replace trains between Olympic Park and Lidcombe.
T8 Airport & South Line
Monday 31 July, Tuesday 1 and Thursday 3 August
- Nightly from 9.30pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Glenfield and Sydenham.
- Nightly from 10.50pm to 1.30am, buses also replace trains between Sydenham and Central via the Airport.

T9 Northern Line

- From 10.20pm, some trains run between Blue Mountains Line stations and the City Circle.
Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August
- Most trains run between Blue Mountains Line stations and Blacktown only. Change trains at Blacktown to continue your journey.
Central Coast & Newcastle Line
Monday 31 July and Tuesday 1 August
- Nightly from 10.40pm to 3am, trains run to a changed timetable via the T1 North Shore Line, making extra stops at Gordon, Chatswood, then all stations to Central.
- Buses run between Strathfield and Hornsby to connect with Central Coast & Newcastle Line trains.
Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 August
- Nightly from 10pm to 2am, at Cowan and Hawkesbury River all trains leave from platform 1.
- On Thursday, buses replace the 01:47 Central to Newcastle Interchange service from Central to Hornsby.
Friday 4 August
- From 11.40pm, some trains run between Central Coast & Newcastle Line stations and the City Circle.
Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August
- Buses replace trains between Newcastle Interchange and Hornsby.
- T1 North Shore Line trains run to a changed timetable between Hornsby and the City.
Hunter Line
Saturday 5 to Monday 7 August
- Buses replace trains between Scone, Dungog and Newcastle Interchange
South Coast Line
Thursday 3 August
- From 9.20am to 2.15pm, buses replace trains between Port Kembla and Wollongong.
Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August
- Trains that normally start and end at Central, platforms 1-12 will start and end at Bondi Junction.
- Daily from 6.30am to 12.15pm, some trains make extra stops between Sutherland and Hurstville.
- Sunday from 1pm to 4pm, trains will not stop at Wolli Creek, but make extra stops at Arncliffe and Sydenham.
- Buses run between Arncliffe, Wolli Creek and Sydenham. Change at Arncliffe or Sydenham for a bus to Wolli Creek
Southern Highlands Line
Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August
- Trains that normally run between Southern Highlands Line stations and Central will start and end at Strathfield. Change trains at Strathfield to continue your journey.
- Saturday from 10am to 4pm, buses replace trains between Campbelltown and Moss Vale.
