Reduced services
Due to staff availability, there may be changes to some public transport services. With a large number of staff isolating, some services may need to be cancelled over the next few weeks as we work to balance timetable requirements with staff availability.
Major works this autumn
Works continue on some of the state’s biggest transport projects this summer. Critical maintenance works will also take place on our rail, tram and road networks to ensure services continue to run reliably.
There’ll be disruptions to the public transport and road networks while these works take place. Be sure to plan ahead and allow extra time or take an alternative route if possible.
Metro Trains
Belgrave, Glen Waverley, and Lilydale Lines
- Belgrave, Glen Waverley and Lilydale trains run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, from 1.30am Saturday 12 March to last train Sunday 13 March.
Craigieburn Line
- Buses replace Craigieburn trains between Essendon and Craigieburn from 8.35pm to last service on Sunday 13 March.
Cranbourne and Pakenham Lines
- Buses replace trains between Caulfield and Westall stations from 8.30pm to last service each night from Sunday 27 February to Thursday 3 March.
- Trains on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines will only run to/from Caulfield Station from 1.30am Saturday 5 March to last train Sunday 6 March.
- Buses replace trains between Caulfield and Westall stations from 8.30pm to last service each night from Sunday 6 March to Tuesday 8 March.
- Buses replace trains between Caulfield, Dandenong and Pakenham stations from 8.15pm to last service each night on Sunday 13 March and Monday 14 March.
Hurstbridge Line
- Buses replace trains between Macleod and Hurstbridge from 8pm Friday 4 March to last service Sunday 6 March.
Hurstbridge and Mernda Line
- Mernda and Hurstbridge trains run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, from 6am Saturday 12 March to last train Sunday 13 March.
Mernda Line
- Buses replace Mernda trains between Clifton Hill and Reservoir stations from 9pm to last service each night, Monday 7 March to Wednesday 9 March.
Pakenham Line
- Buses replace trains between Dandenong and Pakenham from 9pm Wednesday 9 March to last service Monday 21 March.
Sunbury Line
- Buses replace Sunbury line trains between North Melbourne and Sunshine stations from 8.55pm Friday 4 March to last train Sunday 6 March.
- Buses replace Sunbury line trains between North Melbourne and Sunbury stations from 8.25pm to last train each night, Monday 7 March to Wednesday 9 March.
Werribee and Williamstown Lines
- Buses replace trains between North Melbourne, Newport and Williamstown from 8.40pm Friday 4 March to last train Sunday 6 March

- Route 11 trams will be affected by service changes on Sunday 6 March 2022.
V/Line
Albury, Seymour and Shepparton Lines
- Coaches will replace Albury Line trains between Southern Cross and Albury from Saturday 12 March to Sunday 20 March.
- Coaches will replace some evening Seymour Line trains for the entire journey from Sunday 13 March to Wednesday 16 March.
Bairnsdale and Traralgon Lines
- Bairnsdale and Traralgon line trains will run at slower than normal speeds along parts of the line from Monday 14 February to Wednesday 9 March 2022.
- Road coaches replace trains on the Bairnsdale and Traralgon lines at select times from Saturday 26 February to Thursday 3 March.
- Coaches will replace some evening trains on the Traralgon and Bairnsdale lines for all or part of the journey from Sunday 6 March to Wednesday 9 March.
- Coaches will replace all Gippsland trains for the entire journey between Southern Cross, Traralgon and Bairnsdale from Thursday 10 March to Monday 21 March.
Ballarat Line
- Coaches replace evening trains on the Ballarat line from Sunday 6 March to Tuesday 8 March.
Bendigo, Echuca and Swan Hill Lines
- Coaches replace select evening trains on the Bendigo line for the entire journey on Monday 28 February and Tuesday 1 March.
- Trains on the Bendigo, Echuca and Swan Hill lines will operate with temporary speed restrictions and some changes to arrival and departure times from Monday 28 February to Monday 4 April.
- Coaches replace select evening trains on the Bendigo line for the entire journey from Monday 7 March to Wednesday 9 March.
