Reduced services
Due to staff availability, there may be changes to some public transport services. With a large number of staff isolating, some services may need to be cancelled over the next few weeks as we work to balance timetable requirements with staff availability.
Major works this autumn
Works continue on some of the state’s biggest transport projects this summer. Critical maintenance works will also take place on our rail, tram and road networks to ensure services continue to run reliably.
There’ll be disruptions to the public transport and road networks while these works take place. Be sure to plan ahead and allow extra time or take an alternative route if possible.
Metro Trains
Belgrave and Lilydale Lines
- Buses replace trains between Blackburn, Lilydale and Belgrave stations from 8.40pm to last train on Sunday 27 February.
Craigieburn Line
- Craigieburn line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop from 9pm Friday 25 February to last train Sunday 27 February.
Cranbourne and Pakenham Lines
- Trains on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines will only run to/from Caulfield Station from 9pm to last train each night from Sunday 20 February to Thursday 24 February, due to works.
- Buses replace trains between Caulfield and Westall stations from 8.30pm to last service each night from Sunday 27 February to Thursday 3 March.
- Trains on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines will only run to/from Caulfield Station from 1.30am Saturday 5 March to last train Sunday 6 March.
- Buses replace trains between Caulfield and Westall stations from 8.30pm to last service each night from Sunday 6 March to Tuesday 8 March.
Frankston Line
- Buses replace trains between Caulfield and Mordialloc stations from 8.30pm Friday 25 February to last service Sunday 27 February 2022.
Hurstbridge Line
- Buses replace trains between Macleod and Hurstbridge from 8pm Friday 4 March to last service Sunday 6 March.
Sunbury Line
- Buses replace trains between North Melbourne/Sunshine and Sunbury stations at select times between 8.30pm Monday 21 February and last service Sunday 27 February.
- Buses replace trains between North Melbourne and Sunshine stations from 8.55pm to last service each night, Monday 28 February to Wednesday 2 March.
- Buses replace Sunbury line trains between North Melbourne and Sunshine stations from 8.55pm Friday 4 March to last train Sunday 6 March.
Upfield Line
- Buses replace trains between North Melbourne and Upfield stations from 8.05pm Friday 25 February to last train Sunday 27 February.
Werribee and Williamstown Lines
- Buses replace trains between North Melbourne, Newport and Williamstown from 8.45pm to last train each night from Monday 28 February to Wednesday 2 March.

- Route 67 trams run shortened service between Melbourne University and Stop 53 Glenhuntly Tram Depot from 9pm Friday 25 February to last tram Sunday 27 February.
V/Line
Albury, Seymour and Shepparton Lines
- Coaches will replace select evening trains on the Seymour Line for the entire journey on Friday 25 February and Saturday 26 February.
- Coaches will replace some Albury line trains for the entire journey on on Saturday 26 February.
- Coaches replace Shepparton line trains for the entire journey on Saturday 26 February and Sunday 27 February.
Bairnsdale and Traralgon Lines
- Bairnsdale and Traralgon line trains will run at slower than normal speeds along parts of the line from Monday 14 February to Wednesday 9 March 2022.
- Road coaches replace trains on the Bairnsdale and Traralgon lines at select times from Saturday 26 February to Thursday 3 March.
- Coaches will replace some evening trains on the Traralgon and Bairnsdale lines for all or part of the journey from Sunday 6 March to Wednesday 9 March.
Ballarat Line
- Coaches replace evening trains on the Ballarat line from Wednesday 23 February to Saturday 26 February.
Bendigo, Echuca and Swan Hill Lines
- Coaches replace trains on the Swan Hill line for all or part of the journey from Monday 7 February to Sunday 27 February.
- Coaches replace Bendigo and Echuca trains for the entire journey from Thursday 17 February to Sunday 27 February.
- Coaches replace select evening trains on the Bendigo line for the entire journey on Monday 28 February and Tuesday 1 March.
- Trains on the Bendigo, Echuca and Swan Hill lines will operate with temporary speed restrictions and some changes to arrival and departure times from Monday 28 February to Monday 4 April.
Geelong Line
- Coaches will replace select evening trains on the Geelong Line for the entire journey evening trains on Saturday 26 February 2022.
