Major works this autumn
Works continue on some of the state’s biggest transport projects. Critical maintenance works will also take place on our rail, tram and road networks to ensure services continue to run reliably.
There’ll be disruptions to the public transport and road networks while these works take place. Be sure to plan ahead and allow extra time or take an alternative route if possible.
Metro Trains
Alamein Line
- Buses replace Alamein Line trains between Camberwell and Alamein from 8.30pm to last service each night from Sunday 7 May to Wednesday 10 May.
Belgrave Line
- Buses replace trains between Ringwood and Belgrave stations from 8.35pm to last service on Thursday 4 May.
Belgrave, Glen Waverley and Lilydale Lines
- Belgrave, Glen Waverley and Lilydale line trains run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop from 9pm Friday 5 May to last service Sunday 7 May.
- Belgrave, Glen Waverley and Lilydale line trains run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop from 9pm to last service on Monday 8 May.
Belgrave and Lilydale Lines
- Buses replace trains on sections of the Belgrave and Lilydale lines between Camberwell and Box Hill/Ringwood stations from 8.30pm Friday 17 February to late May.
- Buses replace trains between Camberwell and Belgrave/Lilydale stations from 8.30pm Friday 12 May to last service Sunday 14 May.
Cranbourne and Sunbury Lines
- Craigieburn and Sunbury line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, from 9pm Friday 5 May to last service Sunday 7 May.
Craigieburn, Sunbury and Upfield Lines
- Craigieburn, Sunbury and Upfield line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop from from 9pm to last service on Monday 8 May.
- Craigieburn, Sunbury and Upfield line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, from Friday 12 May to last service Sunday 14 May.
Cranbourne and Pakenham Lines
- Cranbourne and Pakenham line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, 9pm to last service each night, Monday 1 May to Thursday 4 May.
- Buses replace trains between Richmond and Oakleigh from 8.30pm Friday 5 May to last service Sunday 7 May.
- Cranbourne and Pakenham line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop from 9pm to last service on Monday 8 May.
- Cranbourne and Pakenham line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, 9pm to last service each night, Tuesday 9 May to Thursday 11 May.
- Cranbourne and Pakenham line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, from 9pm Friday 12 May to last service Sunday 14 May.
Frankston Line
- Express trains along the Frankston Line will be replaced with trains stopping all stations, from Monday 12 December 2022 to mid-2023.
- Buses replace Frankston Line trains between South Yarra and Moorabbin stations from 8.30pm Friday 5 May to last service Sunday 7 May.
Hurstbridge and Mernda Lines
- Hurstbridge and Mernda line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, from 9pm to last service each night, Monday 1 May to Thursday 4 May.
- Hurstbridge and Mernda line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, from 9pm to last service each night, Tuesday 9 May to Thursday 11 May.
- Hurstbridge and Mernda line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, from 9pm Friday 12 May to last service Sunday 14 May.
Pakenham Line
- Buses replace trains on the Pakenham Line between Berwick and Pakenham from 10pm to last service on Tuesday 9 May.
Stony Point Line
- From Monday 12 December 2022 to mid-2023, there will be minor connection wait time increases between the Frankston and Stony Point lines.
Upfield Line
- Upfield Line trains will terminate and originate at Southern Cross, except during Night Network, from 9pm Friday 5 May to last service Sunday 7 May.
- Buses replace trains between North Melbourne and Upfield from 9pm to last service on Monday 8 May.
Yarra Trams
Routes 19, 57 and 59
- Route 19, 57 and 59 trams will be affected by service changes from 8pm to last tram on select dates between Monday 27 February to Thursday 21 September.
Routes 67
- Buses replace trams on Route 67 between Stop 53 Glenhuntly Tram Depot and Carnegie terminus from 9pm Friday 5 May to mid-July.
Routes 72
- Route 72 trams will experience service changes on weekdays from 7am to 9.30am and from 3.30pm to 7pm, from Tuesday 11 April to Wednesday 31 May.
V/Line
Ararat, Ballarat and Maryborough Lines
- Coaches replace Ararat, Ballarat, and Maryborough line trains between Southern Cross and Melton on Saturday 6 May.
Bairnsdale and Traralgon Lines
- Coaches replace some Traralgon and Bairnsdale line trains for all or part of the journey at various times from Friday 5 May to Tuesday 9 May.
Geelong and Warrnambool Lines
- Coaches replace trains on the Geelong Line for part of the journey on Saturday 6 May.
- Coaches replace Warrnambool Line trains between Southern Cross and Geelong on Saturday 6 May.
Seymour and Shepparton Lines
- Shepparton line trains will run at slower than normal speeds along parts of the line from Friday 7 April to Saturday 6 May.
- Coaches replace evening trains on the Seymour line for the entire journey from Sunday 7 May to Wednesday 10.
