Major works this autumn
Works continue on some of the state’s biggest transport projects this autumn. Critical maintenance works will also take place on our rail, tram and road networks to ensure services continue to run reliably.
There’ll be disruptions to the public transport and road networks while these works take place. Be sure to plan ahead and allow extra time or take an alternative route if possible.
Metro Trains
Cranbourne Line
- Craigieburn line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop from 5am Saturday 16 April to last train Sunday 17 April.
Cranbourne and Pakenham Lines
- Cranbourne and Pakenham trains run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop, from 6am Saturday 16 April to last train Sunday 17 April.
- Trains on the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines will only run to/from Caulfield Station from 9pm to last train each night from Sunday 17 April to Wednesday 20 April.
Hurstbridge Line
- Buses replace Hurstbridge Line trains between Clifton Hill and Macleod from 8.55pm to last train each night from Sunday 10 April to Wednesday 13 April, due to works.
- Buses replace trains between Clifton Hill and Hurstbridge from 8.35pm Friday 15 April to last train Sunday 17 April.
Pakenham Line
- Buses replace trains between Dandenong and Berwick from 11pm to last service each night, Sunday 3 April to Thursday 7 April, due to works.
- Buses replace trains between Berwick and Pakenham from 9.30pm Friday 8 April to last service Monday 11 April 2022, due to project works.
Sunbury and Upfield Line
- Sunbury and Upfield line trains run to and from Southern Cross, not to Flinders Street or via the City Loop, from 5.30am Saturday 16 April to 1.15am Sunday 17 April and from 6.15am to last train on Sunday 17 April.
Werribee Line
- Buses replace trains between Laverton and Werribee from from 8.30pm Friday 15 April to last service Monday 18 April.

- Route 1, 3a, 5, 6, 12, 16, 30, 35 (City Circle), 67, 72, 86, 96 and 109 trams are affected by stop closures and service changes between Thursday 7 April and Sunday 10 April 2022, due to the Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park.
V/Line
Bairnsdale and Traralgon Lines
- Trains on the Bairnsdale and Traralgon lines will run at slower than normal speeds along parts of the line from Tuesday 22 March to Thursday 21 April.
- Coaches will replace some trains on the Traralgon and Bairnsdale lines for all or part of the journey at various times from Friday 1 April to Monday 11 April.
Seymour Line
- Coaches will replace some evening Seymour Line trains for the entire journey from Sunday 10 April to Wednesday 13 April 2022
