When travelling on public transport you must wear a fitted face mask covering your nose and mouth and ensure you wear it for your entire journey.
Major works this summer
Works continue on some of the state’s biggest transport projects this summer. Critical maintenance works will also take place on our rail, tram and road networks to ensure services continue to run reliably.
There’ll be disruptions to the public transport and road networks while these works take place. Be sure to plan ahead and allow extra time or take an alternative route if possible.
Melbourne Marathon Festival
The annual Melbourne Marathon Festival is back this Saturday 11 December and Sunday 12 December, for the 43rd anniversary of this two-day event.
Several road closures and tram service changes will be in place to allow the event to run safely. As part of Victoria’s Big Build and critical maintenance works, major road and rail works will continue with buses replacing trains on a number of lines over the weekend. Be sure to plan ahead and allow extra time.

Craigieburn Line
- Craigieburn line trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street, not via the City Loop from 9pm Friday 10 December to last train Sunday 12 December,
Cranbourne Line
- Buses replace Cranbourne trains between Dandenong and Cranbourne stations from 8.30pm to last service each night, on Monday 13 December and Tuesday 14 December 2021, due to level crossing removal works.
Cranbourne and Pakenham Lines
- Buses replace Cranbourne and Pakenham trains between Richmond / Burnley and Caulfield stations from 8.25pm Friday 10 December to last train Sunday 12 December.
- Buses replace trains between Flinders Street and Oakleigheach night from 8.30pm to last service, Monday 13 December to Wednesday 15 December.
- Buses replace trains between Flinders Street and Caulfield from first service to 8.30pm Wednesday 15 December.
- Buses replace trains between Flinders Street and Caulfield from first service Thursday 16 December to last service Thursday 23 December
Frankston Line
- Buses replace trains between Richmond / Burnley and Caulfield stations from 8.25pm Friday 10 December to last train Sunday 12 December.

Sandringham Line
- Buses replace trains between South Yarra and Sandringham stations from 8.40pm to Friday 10 December to last train Sunday 12 December.
Stony Point Line
- Buses replace trains between Frankston and Stony Point from 8.30pm Monday 13 December to last train Thursday 23 December 2021, due to project and maintenance works.
Sunbury Line
- Sunbury Line trains run to and from Southern Cross, not to Flinders Street or via the City Loop, from 5pm to last train on Sunday 12 December.
Upfield Line
- Buses replace trains between North Melbourne and Upfield stations from 4pm to last service on Sunday 12 December 2021, due to works.
Werribee Line
- Buses replace trains between North Melbourne and Werribee from 8.30pm to last service each night, Sunday 5 December to Thursday 9 December.
Werribee and Williamstown Lines
- Buses replace trains between North Melbourne and Werribee/Williamstown from 8.30pm Friday 10 December to last service Sunday 12 December 2021, due to works.
Williamstown Line
- North Williamstown Station is closed from 8.30pm Monday 2 August until last service Friday 10 December.
